Today we’d like to introduce you to Sanjini Bhakta.
Hi Sanjini, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I fell into acting because of a serendipitous accident and then I never stopped. I was given a choice to volunteer at either a performing arts center or an arts center and I chose the former. I knew that this was a spiritual sign for me to pursue acting which was a passion buried deep inside of me since I was a kid. So I took many acting lessons (scene study, improvisation, movement, etc.) for many years. I also acted in many plays (Shakespeare, restoration comedies) and in 15 student films.
I did a lot of extra or background work on many big movie sets. I also auditioned and went to many castings. I played a nude crack lady in a Showtime pilot with Oscar-winning actress Melissa Leo and that was directed by Ilene Chaiken.
Then I worked as a nude art model for many art studios, art institutes, colleges, high schools and video game companies. At the same time, I had discovered martial arts – Shaolin Kempo Karate. After taking martial arts until I was a brown belt, I decided to write a short script to showcase some of my skills on camera. I had a free warehouse location because of an actor friend of mine so I gave him the role as my father in my action film series called “Eye of the Empress”.
Then I sat down and wrote the whole 95-page script in two months. So far, I have filmed 13 short episodes of “Eye of the Empress”. I realized that telling my own stories was now my spiritual path. So I started to produce, direct, act, write, cast and create my own films. I filmed “Portrait of a Nude Art Model”, “Motel Patel” and “Cyber Romance 1 & 2.” I have 7 more short episodes to film or 3 to 4 days of filming to finish “Eye of the Empress”.
I also wrote 15 children’s stories in one month a while back. I have now published 13 illustrated children’s books which are on Amazon and Kindle. I have 3 more books left to publish. One of those books left to publish is an anthology or poems and essays.
I went on to get my black belt in Shaolin Kempo and did my test inside the Shaolin Temple in China. I trained with the Shaolin Monks inside the temple during my visit. Currently, I am training with Shaolin Monks in Shaolin Kung Fu and I am a brown belt.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a very, very long, tedious and difficult road or journey for me with so many twists and turns, obstacles and struggles. At times, I have wanted to give up but my films are my spiritual journey and I have to get to the end of my action film series, “Eye of the Empress” which is my baby. Learning patience and perseverance has been a challenge for me. Right now, my struggle for a long time has been to find a new, handsome lead actor. I have tried every professional casting site numerous times, I’ve held castings, I’ve looked online and on social media platforms and looked in person at acting showcases, the gym, etc. but I have not found an actor who fits the role yet.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an actress, producer, director, writer and martial artist. I am a filmmaker and children’s book author. I also write for online magazines. I volunteer with Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity.
I create my own opportunities and therefore opportunities for others. On my film productions I hire and pay for the cinematographer, the sound mixer with the sound equipment, the grip, the gaffer, the camera and equipment. I get the locations and cast my films by myself. I pay the editors in post-production. I pay for everything by myself.
With my children’s books, I also hire illustrators and a book designer.
I am able to work on my creative projects because I have rental income from two properties – thanks to my Dad. I own property and have tenants so I also hire a property manager.
One day, my creative projects will make a ton of money because I have an imagination and my stories are edgy, unique, masculine-oriented and provocative! I am a maverick – I am not afraid to express myself and I do not care what others think of me or whether they will judge me. I own my sexuality, prowess, masculine drive and I am not afraid to show all of this in my films.
I want my own media company with my own films, books and products – just like Oprah! My company is called Star Sapphire Media. I have been taking very small steps to achieve this goal – plodding along like a tortoise for a long time.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like the most about Los Angeles is the cultural diversity. the colorful, effervescent and expressive people and the variety of different neighborhoods. Los Angeles also has beautiful trees, flowers and gardens everywhere. The ocean, desert and mountains are beautiful.
I also like that on a daily basis there are so many film events you can attend, or art events and all kinds of sports and combat sports events happening all year long. You can explore every kind of martial arts and the top athletes are here. There are so many gyms as well. There are lots of museums, diverse restaurants and all kinds of other activities to attend.
What I like the least about Los Angeles is that it is not a clean city and the homeless situation is out of control so that there is trash everywhere which results in poor sanitation. Also, the rental costs and prices of properties are too high.
Los Angeles is a city of angels and dreams and my dreams will come true!!! I will win Oscars and attend the Academy Awards in this City of Angels!!!
