Hidden Gems: Meet Carlos Bryant of Las Maris Vegan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Bryant. He and his team share their story with us below:

Pressure makes diamonds.

That’s the motto Carlos Bryant lives by, and it’s a principle that has taken him to an esteemed career as a rapper and entrepreneur.

Born and raised in Stockton, Carlos turned to music as a way to cope with the death of his father in 2007. It was at this time that he developed a creative, expressive, and emotional artistic style—one which he would later use to co-found Las Maris Vegan, a vegan food truck business focused on compassion and environmental sustainability, with his close friends Bret & Andre in 2019.

In Q4 of 2022, Las Maris Vegan expanded to LA via a partnership with Vegan food tech giant “Just Egg”, Las Maris is planning on opening another LA-based food truck + brick & mortar in early 2024

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the main challenges we have faced as a company has been learning how to raise capital in an organic manner. Another challenge has been mastering the techniques and processes involved in producing a consistent product. In addition, we have had to put effort into effectively training and hiring the right team members, as the team is a crucial aspect of the business. We have also learned the importance of maintaining professionalism and working effectively as business partners as we strive to scale the company.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Las Maris is a fully vegan food truck that was established in Stockton, California in 2019. The truck combines traditional Mexican cuisine with vegan proteins and innovative menu items and is known for its bright pink exterior. In addition to operating as a food truck, Las Maris also offers support to plant-based and vegan brands through “activations,” setting us apart in the industry. We are proud to work with million and billion-dollar businesses within our sector. As we continue to grow, we are excited to expand our services to include mobile ordering and delivery in the LA area, as well as catering for private parties and corporate events.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my most memorable childhood experiences was a conversation I had with my father. At the time, I had expressed to him my desire to play basketball and excel in the sport. In response, my father imparted upon me the importance of dedication and hard work. He explained that those who truly wanted to succeed at basketball were constantly practicing, even carrying a basketball with them everywhere they went. His words have stayed with me and continue to serve as a source of inspiration when times are challenging in my business endeavors. They have helped me to understand that in order to succeed in any field, it is necessary to fully commit oneself and embrace the values of hard work and dedication.
