Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Luke.
Hi Tiffany, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a content creator who makes fun videos with my two corgis named Tofu and Boshi. I originally started an Instagram account for Tofu back in 2015 because I was worried that my friends and family were getting sick of seeing photos of her on my personal Instagram. We got really lucky and some of our photos and videos went viral which helped grow our account. Initially, running Tofu’s social media accounts was a fun hobby for me but in 2021, I was able to turn this into my full-time job. Today, we have over 2 million followers across our @tofu_corgi accounts on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube who love to watch Tofu and Boshi’s daily adventures. We have partnered with many companies such as Marvel Studios, Warner Bros, Netflix and more as a part of their influencer campaigns.
Before my current job, I used to be a Marketing Manager at the Disney ABC Television Group (now Walt Disney Television). There, I worked on marketing execution, experiential activations, and influencer strategy for shows such as Pretty Little Liars, The Fosters, Shadowhunters, and more. I am also a double Trojan and graduated from USC for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. Fight on!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was not a smooth road. The biggest challenge for me was making the transition to being a full-time content creator. I had originally been running Tofu’s Instagram account as a hobby alongside my full-time marketing job. As we were growing, brands started to reach out to us about partnering together on influencer campaigns. I have a strict rule that we only ever collaborate with companies that have products/services that we would genuinely use. I am extremely picky about who we work with and it made me really question if I would ever reach the point of making a sustainable income. Fortunately in 2021, we were able to land some long-term partnerships with our favorite companies and also earn more from the various social media creator funds which made it feasible for me to turn this full-time.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The main things that set me apart from others are my dogs Tofu and Boshi. Tofu is my oldest corgi and she is known for her sassy personality and her evil twin named Loafu that seems to always appear on reflective surfaces. Boshi on the other hand is a total extrovert with a ton of energy who loves cuddles. He is known for his floppy left ear that goes up whenever he is excited about something. The two of them have a very typical big sister, little brother relationship where Boshi wants to play with Tofu all the time while Tofu wants to be left alone. I’m so lucky to have these two in my life and so grateful that I get to spend so much time with them making fun videos.
Something that I am the most proud of from running Tofu and Boshi’s accounts has been the opportunity to raise money for causes that I really care about. Through our Tofu and Boshi merchandise sales, we have raised thousands of dollars for organizations such as the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Chinese for Affirmative Action, Project Hope and more.
