Today we’d like to introduce you to Apiwe Bubu.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It all began with the passion and the love of music, which translated to studying music at Berklee in Boston. Then moving to LA in 2016 where I began building my career starting as an assistant engineer to Tony Maserati. Having focused on composition, engineering and music production during my studies I soon persuaded composition and music production opportunities in the years following since. I eventually opened my own music studio Global Sound Studio LA in which I provide turnkey music services which include audio recording, engineering & mixing, music production, songwriting & composition.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It certainly has not been smooth, there’s been ups and downs and real challenges. Settling into LA and finding comfortable routine and pace for the work and demands of the music industry was not easy. Certainly, unforeseen circumstances and events of the workplace came with a number shock surprises I did not anticipate but had to adapt to varying from challenging clients to challenging employers. But all was met with the utmost positivity and enthusiasm for growth.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Global Sound Studio LA?
My studio is based in North Hollywood and is known as Global Sound Studio LA. We provide music services that include audio recording, audio engineering and mixing, music production, songwriting and composition. The studio environment and tools are world-class, turnkey and designed to inspire creativity and support easy execution. We provide a unique music and studio experience given the unique cross-intersection of my background as a south African and global citizen who’s gathered vast experience and exposure from Johannesburg to New York, Boston to Los Angeles, Spain and onwards. This accounts for much of the sound and success of the studio and the GSSLA brand.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like best about Los Angeles is the amazing diversity of thought, culture and enterprise. What I like least is the traffic.
