Community Highlights: Meet Nadim Toth of Toth Comics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadim Toth.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
What got me started is my desire to give back to empower others through comics.

I was born in beautiful Morocco to a Hungarian father and a Moroccan mother. I was alternating between Romania and Morocco before coming to Canada at 6.

In my early teens, I discovered the X-Men series, which I instantly connected with. Empowered individuals making a positive impact on the world, despite being targeted for being different. Although they were fictional characters, they were my role models.

It is important for me to give back to an industry that brought me hope and self-acceptance. It is my belief that, despite anyone’s differences and circumstances, they can be their own hero.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A dreamer since I could remember, which brought challenges at an early age. To pay better attention in class, a teacher kept pulling my ear, which disfigured one of them.

I was also raised in a high-control group, which imposed a particular way of thinking and lifestyle. Like most kids who are deemed as different, I was a target for bullies. Escaping into worlds created in my mind was a source of great solace for me.

Following a series of events, I came to a point where I radically embraced and loved myself, regardless of any other perceptions. This is when the magic happened. After college, I saved enough to do an otoplasty to fix my deformed ear. I began exercising, taking care of my appearance, clothing choices and full-on pursuing my dreams.

I am grateful for every aspect of my journey, which taught me a lot and allowed me to experience the world from different perspectives.

At Toth Comics, our mission is to empower people through comics.

Creating stories where people can dream and feel welcome no matter their differences. They are cherished and worthy of celebration!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Any effort related to your dreams, no matter how small or large, is a success to me.

Also, when learning to trust your intuition and practicing self-love, it changes life for the best.
