Community Highlights: Meet Aisha Olemba

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aisha Olemba.

Hi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Wow first and foremost thank you so much for taking the time to hear me! I’m just a Maryland girl out in LA trying to make her dreams come true. Never in a million years did I think I would be where I am today and I’m blessed and highly favored. Since doing my interview with Shoutout LA I’ve finally made the move to LA and have been here for almost 5 months now and I’ve grown so much. Putting myself first for the first time has catapulted my journey to becoming a professional dancer in ways I can’t describe. Although I have a long way to go I finally feel like my dreams are in arms reach.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
People are not wrong when they say LA is a tough place! Transitioning from a small state to a bigger state has opened my eyes. When people come to LA majority of the time it’s because they are out here chasing their dreams but there is many people chasing for the same dream which makes it feel competitive. But I’ve learned that everyone has something to offer that’s different than the next which makes me feel like their is room for me here! What’s been smooth with my transition from MD to LA has been my DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) community out here welcoming me with open arms. I’ve been so blessed to come out here a feel like I’m not alone and have some guidance from my peers.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I don’t wanna say too much but what I will say is that I’m definitely up next! Keep a look out for the next few moves I got going on! I’m truly seeing my hard work show off and you will too!

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I love answering this question in hopes it inspires my peers to do the same as me. Happiness is a choice!  The sooner we understand that power we have the sooner we can have happier. Now what makes me happy is remembering my worth and I do this by looking at myself everyday in the mirror and giving myself a compliment! Corny…. I know but it has helped remember who the f—— I am and I genuinely become happier after.
