Inspiring Conversations with Devin Bronson of Noise Candy Music

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devin Bronson.

Hi Devin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in a musical family, being a 3rd generation professional musician. I started to take music and guitar very seriously around my freshman year in high school after discovering virtuoso-type guitarists like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie, etc… I became a nerd who stayed in my room all day just practicing. This opened the door for me to play in much more successful local bands at a young age which is where I developed a lot of experience before I graduated. I had the Gladwell “10,000 Hours” coming out of high school when I got into the world of “hired gun” musician work in LA. I spent about 20 years touring non-stop with a variety of acts. Avril Lavigne is a massive chunk of this time at her height of touring. I think I was home for ten whole days some years; it was a blast, and I still love going out on the road, but I like balancing it with my work in town running a music catalog that services film and tv clients, Noise Candy Music. Our credits are very diverse, but we have been lucky to provide music to theatrical campaigns for some of the biggest films of the last decade. I get the best of both worlds and find I enjoy all of it so much more. I also wanted my work with acts to be more “rock” centric vs. the pop stuff. This landed me getting to write and record an album with Sebastian Bach from Skid Row, which was a total blast. It is always a ton of fun to let loud rock guitars be centered with someone like that who can sing anything.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
You always feel like the train will come off the tracks at any moment in the music business. I have been fortunate to work with people I enjoy, which makes a huge difference. Any struggles I have had led me to where I am now, which I am very happy with. I get paid to do what I love and see the world so I really can’t complain. Balancing home and work life in a career like this is sometimes hard, but it’s possible.

As you know, we’re big fans of Noise Candy Music. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I started Noise Candy Music with my business partner Adam Parker in 2017. We had a vision for where we thought we could improve creating music for film and tv placements and advertising. We run a very lean and focused catalog with our distribution partners and have a large pool of writers/producers that work with us. It is a lot of fun to curate and produce these releases and see them used all over the world. Our list of placements is very long and diverse but I am most proud when I see something we have done in the most gruesome horror trailer and then something in the most family-friendly Disney trailer back to back. The polarity is hilarious to me.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I can be emailed through our website where we have met collaborators. Also, I am on Twitter more than other social media just because I find the ticker tape feel of it to be the best for up-to-date stuff going on relevant to what we do.
