Meet Marily Vaillancourt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marily Vaillancourt.

Hi Marily, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
For as long as I can remember I have been an artist. I was always drawing in my agendas during school from an early age and became recognized in school as the creative one. Upon graduating I decided to take a more traditional path which I thought would bring security, however, there was something missing. My true calling was constantly in the back of my mind pulling me toward my destiny. In 2019, I made the decision to pursue my art full-time. My first painting series sold at a charity auction for children with autism at The Fine Art Museum of Montreal. After that, I flew to LAX where I showcased my works at Los Angeles Fashion Week. During this time I was staying at the Dream Hotel in Hollywood and after seeing my art the GM loved it so much that he made me the first “Artist in Residence.” My residency was such a success that they extended it for six months. It was this moment that the stars aligned for me and I took the leap to move to LA.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been many struggles and obstacles along the way but through it all, I have kept the determination and willpower to persevere and overcome whatever may come my way. I look at every challenge as a chance to grow and become stronger. I have also had the good fortune of having a powerful circle of friends and family that have encouraged and supported me through it all. I never give in to negative energy but choose to rise above with positivity knowing that every moment builds character and has helped me become the resilient person I am today.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have become known as a contemporary pop artist working in various mediums including acrylic, spray paint, oil, and epoxy. My most famous works thus far have been my Ice Cream Cone series which are inspired by one of my main influences; Andy Warhol. During my residency at Dream, I had an epiphany that I wanted to expand my portfolio in order to appeal to a wider variety of tastes and create pieces that would complement any collector’s home aesthetics. So I began exploring different facets of my imagination which led me to my abstract collection. During the process, I like to envision how my art will flow with the design of the surrounding environment.

One of the many environments I have discovered on my artistic journey is the world of street art. Since moving to LA I have been commissioned to paint several murals with my most recent being an homage to Jimi Hendrix located at the legendary Andaz Hotel on the Sunset Strip.

Recently I have also begun exploring the Metaverse and have created my first NFT series a limited collection of 100 unique NFTs called Crypto Queen Artist which are currently available on Opensea. I am most proud of my ability to manifest my creative vision from inside my mind bringing it forth into reality and the fact that my art has connected with a wide variety of people from all walks of life. I feel like it is the combination of my business acumen, my artistic nature, and my determination to succeed that sets me apart from the crowd.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Honestly, my favorite resources are art and fashion books/magazines. I spend a great amount of time perusing these and gleaning inspiration that I can incorporate into my works.
