Today we’d like to introduce you to Garrett Chan.

Garrett, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I come from a family who has been in the real estate and related industries my entire life. I grew up around buildings and architecture, and so when I went to college, I studied architectural interior design. After working in that industry for a few years, I decided to give real estate a try and follow in the family business.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been great. I’m a people person and have always loved working with people. I’m a thinker and as a designer, I was a problem solver. I now just carry that mindset into real estate to help my clients solve problems or create opportunities. I can’t say it’s always easy though. It’s a tough job. Realtors must be self-motivated and push themselves to do more. We must guide our own educations and be willing to learn, adapt, and grow – without that, we’re doing a disservice to our clients and ourselves.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Garrett Chan Real Estate – what should we know?
I work with RE/MAX Premier Properties, a multi-office brokerage in the greater San Gabriel Valley. I specifically work in the Pasadena office specializing in residential sales. I purchased my first home about a year before becoming a real estate agent, and because of that I am very aware of the stresses and confusion in the first home purchase. I am a neighborhood expert and specialize in the Pasadena Foothills area. I would say the thing that sets me apart is my background in architectural interior design. It gives me building knowledge and professional experience that allows me to truly listen and pinpoint the needs, concerns, and goals for each individual client.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My team leader, Jerry Sun, has helped by always pushing me to do more. My support staff is always there to help me provide the best customer service. My parents have taught me that I am capable of anything and always showed me what true work ethic is. My friends for showing me the meaning of loyalty and compassion. And of course, my clients for entrusting me and allowing me to be a part of their journey.
