Meet Gilde Flores

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gilde Flores.

Hi Gilde, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started out as a kid who would tinker with any instruments my dad had in my proximity, in which I would sit around and play along by ear to jingles or any music playing through the house. This eventually lead to my career as a touring musician at the early age of 17.

Although I was touring the states as a musician (switching from bass to guitar depending on the band), I always felt this tug/call from music which I couldn’t at the time decipher. I eventually found myself working as the chief sound engineer for a recording studio, in which I got to work alongside some great renowned record producers which inspired and introduced me to the magical world behind the curtain; the world of music production and composition.

Being that I wasn’t “formally trained,” I eventually realized, with the help of a major mindset overhaul, that I had held myself back early on from diving into this creative space sooner. In the process of diving into the countless hours of self-training and years of knowledge indulgence, I finally made my way through gaining experience, which lead me to working alongside some of the greats, driven by pure passion to solidify myself in the arts.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
In my opinion, nothing is ever a smooth road if you are not fully and truly “dialed in.” Experience can be a fierce teacher, especially in the form of struggles in about any area of the process if the mindset is not where it needs to be.

I learned this later on in my journey as I always seemed to have focused on the failures and mistakes, as opposed to adjusting my perspective and realizing that it was all part of the process of shaping oneself and expertise.

Had I had my mindset and perspective dialed in, I may have not had taken the “longer route” and not had to experience every single struggle as viciously as I did. Moving forward and now fully dialed in, I realize it’s what I had to endure to prep me to be where I am today.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a grammy nominated award-winning music composer and producer in the visual and audio media. I specialize in the creation of music for film/tv/video games/trailers. In the past 10 years, I have been fortunate to provide music in 2,000 plus projects, consisting of some of the world’s biggest brands, names, and franchises, including major television shows, feature films, and trailers.

Being that I am a diverse multi-genred creator, I’ve worked on a variety of projects which have had me working in the shadows or behind the scenes, so a lot of the work I do may seem to go unnoticed, however I recently scored a 10 episode series for HBO Max, Garcias, which is an adaption of a hit show that ran on Nickelodeon from 2000-2004, “The Brothers Garcia.” I attended the red carpet premiere in April 2022, which really grounded and solidified my place as a music composer/producer.

I feel that I am most proud to have not let myself get put in a box as a creator, and rather, stay open in creativity and not specialized. I feel that this has allowed me to evolve as a composer and music producer and able to stay active and working in whatever music needs arise. I also stay vigilant in my learning and growth and don’t allow myself to get comfortable in my skill and expertise, and from this, I find this has helped set me apart from others. Another thing I feel that sets me apart, as well as keeps me progressing, is that I also have a degree in self-development/ Human development, which is where I was able to create a solid mindset which has helped gain this “AR Vision” in life overall (the geek in me speaking) which allows me to always have a goal or destination with my career to stay relevant and active.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality I feel that is the most important to my success has to be my Faith. I have developed a tremendous amount of faith in the pursuit of what I do today. It was in faith that I learned to be resilient, and in turn developed this amazing perception of life overall. So what some refer to optimism, I lean heavily on the term perspective. For me, It’s how I perceive every moment and thing which directs my actions which defines who I am as a creator/human.
