Hidden Gems: Meet Yafi Fayruz of AnakLA Tour

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yafi Fayruz.

Yafi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Frankly, I am not sure where to start. To put it briefly, I was brought to the us when I was 16, and we overstayed our visas, and I was not qualified for DACA (the dream act) due to my age. Since then, I have been trying to “make it” here in the states. Taking every job that was available to me from being a security guard to a logistic manager at an e-commerce furniture company. Now, I am a soccer coach for kids, I run a tour guide business for Indonesians, also became professional photographer & videographer, and most importantly, I make videos on YouTube about living in the states while sharing my stories and others alike. All the while still trying to make sure that my mom’s goal of moving us to the states is still in progress, which is to have a better life.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been a fun journey, which consists of many trials and turbulence. One of which is not being able to go back to my home country since I came 16 long years ago, I have missed friends’ graduations, weddings, and my father & and grandmother’s funerals. Not to mention, given my immigration status, not the easiest thing to have when looking for a job.

As you know, we’re big fans of AnakLA Tour. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
I provide memorable tours around the United States, mostly in Los Angeles and New York. My clients ranges from my YouTube viewers to politicians in Indonesia. I am known for my contributions in the Indonesian community as a youth leader back then. Now I am trying to gather all Indonesians from all walks of life to strengthen our community so that one day we can have Indonesian Town in LA, which will be the first Indonesian town in the world.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
One of my most stand-out qualities are my personality and my ability to blend in with many different groups of people. Which I have learned since I was little.
