Check Out Tylor Hurd’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tylor Hurd.

Hi Tylor, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I team an artist, been one my whole life. When I was in Elementary and middle school I used to get in trouble almost daily for drawing on all of my work. My mom noticed my talent before I even knew what it was and sent me to a performing arts school. I only stayed there for two years but I never stopped creating. After I graduated high school I started painting on clothes and from there my business started. I no longer paint on clothes for every order but Since 2016 I have been running an online business myself, making and shipping orders while still consistently making art and now also being a mom.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it was very hard just trying to figure it all out on my own. Messing up on orders, not pricing items correctly so I could even make a profit, being scammed multiple times, even some days just waking up not wanting to continue, but I never let anything stop me from doing what I loved.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I paint mainly with oil, however my work is all over the place I draw, digitally and traditionally, I do collages, and love to just experiment with different mediums. I like to create these monsters, but not to scare anyone. My intention behind my monsters are to not judge others by how they look, because even though this is a giant with sharp teeth when I was creating him my idea of him was that he is really friend, sweet and will protect you. I’m known for my giants, goblins, spirits and self-portraits. I feel like what sets me apart from other artists is I try to not make my art about the real world it’s more of an escape from the real world, I like to focus on my shadow side a lot as well which I know most people try to avoid but I embrace it because it’s still apart of me

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
That I actually used to hate sharing my work on the internet. I did not like any type of feedback on my art; I didn’t care if it was good or bad. because it was me at my most vulnerable state. I had to get used to it. Also, my business wasn’t something I planned on doing it just happened, but I have no idea what else I would’ve done so it all worked out
