Life & Work with Michelle Scarbrough

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Scarbrough.

Hi Michelle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It started back a decade ago 2012 Mother’s Day I found out my Dad was Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and only had a few months left, and my daughter was only 5 months old. I went back to work 3 months after she was born to work but really wanted to quit my career to be with her and my dad. My fear mind I was too scared to quit my career of 7 years working for the Stewart Title Escrow Department. I ended up leaving my career to be with my dad in the last month before he passed. I was only 30 at the time and over time I had many diseases in my body fibromyalgia, heartburn, carpal tunnel, cancer, clicking knee, Chronic Bronchitis, sinus infections, allergies, lockjaw, and Sciatica. I felt like I was dying inside my body. One day I felt possessed to go to yoga…

In my mind, I was shocked because I was a runner and weight lifter at the time for 15 years. I thought yoga was weak!!! So I went anyway because I didn’t have the drive to run or lift weights anymore. Within a month I was only going 2-3 a week and started to get more results than I always wanted in my physical form! The most important part was I had body dysmorphia because my whole family had a weight problem and serval diseases. So I have always been driven to health because of it. So once I realized I wanted to share this with everyone after one year of practicing yoga I became a yoga instructor. After I got my certificate in Ashtanga Yoga, I still wanted more knowledge of all types of yoga and Immediately got into a 500 hr course called “Cloud Nine” Once I completed this I was able to create my own curriculum for Ashtanga.

I knew right away I wanted to teach teachers the Ashtanga Yoga practice because it opened me up to slowing down it was a form of moving meditation, I wasn’t one to sit still so it was the perfect practice for type “A” people. I lead several Astanga Teacher Training. This practice was pulling the mucus out of my lungs and opening my eyes about the type of foods I was intaking. I was eating processed package foods at that time or eating out! I stopped drinking beer and started juicing.

Then I started to work at a juice bar to learn how to make healthier treats. It was a raw juice bar in Chino Hills next to the yoga studio where I did the training. I felt called to work there. I manage Auraganic Juicery for 3 years and learned everything that I know now. I was able to reverse all my diseases within a short period of 30 days through this food. Was so passionate to share the knowledge because it saved my life!! I became an acrobat at 33 which never thought was possible. I felt so alive inside. I started to branch out by doing yoga detox retreats in Costa Rica. Then the world shut down and met my partner in 2019 he healed my tailbone and I healed his gut together we created a program called Kurmalife we have/had several clients working through food and unique posture rehabilitation with Oleg Flow. We had a retreat in Hawaii once the world opened back up and one of my clients was someone who owned Holy Love Institute. She loved that I taught Ashtanga very traditionally spoken in Sanskrit and made yummy raw foods. She created me as her lead Asana teacher and chef for her Teacher Training in Los Angeles, San Fransisco, and New York. Working with her I expanded my knowledge of Tantra Yoga through this training. I have learned that yoga forever practices knowledge is an endless journey of self is forever.

Her husband also is the owner of HolyLove Represent which is the producer for Krishna Das West Coast Tour. She invited me to make food for the band and go on tour. I was so excited that after a decade of doing yoga how far I have come. To Tour with the first Kiran Yogi to win an academy award I felt so honored. Expanded my knowledge in Kiran Yoga as well. To be in the community of service for others is my happy place. I love what I do!!! I never feel like I am working because I am designed to do this!! To reverse our system of Big Pharma one soul at a time. To show that we are able to reverse any disease without pills that my mission and my purpose. My life is forever changed. I am Turning 40 in November and my daughter is ten now. People think I am her sister and her friends think I am the prettiest mom. Being the example for my daughter that it is a choice of how you want to look and feel inside and out. She was my inspiration for living. Blessed to have her.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It was really rough I had to see parts of myself that I didn’t really like about myself but in order to change I had to leave my husband my daughter’s Dad after a 9-year marriage. I never thought I would ever leave but yoga opened me up so much that I realized I didn’t even know who I was. I left when she was 4 it was the hardest thing to do but I wanted to live a long life and I need to be free from my comfort zone in order to change. Best dad ever but we grew apart

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
