Daily Inspiration: Meet Lisa Simmons-Santa Cruz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Simmons-Santa Cruz.

Hi Lisa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I attended The Los Angeles County High School For The Arts, and during that time I signed with Elektra Records under a production deal with Grammy-nominated production team “Soul Shock & Karlin”. While being signed to them, I began writing records for my own album and for other recording artists in the music industry. Shortly after that, I met my music partner and husband Francisco (Flinstone) Santa Cruz, and together we continued writing for recording artists and for TV & Film.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth ride, as I had this idea of how my music journey would go, but YeHoVaH had the real plan. All in all, I am so overly grateful that my plans fell through, it’s much more rewarding going the way that God ordains. His plan NEVER fails.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a minister for YeHoVaH, here to spread the good news of salvation. I am also an RIAA-certified platinum songwriter/singer and music producer in the entertainment industry. I am most proud of God’s ministry through me, via his word, and what he allow’s me to create through music. I think the thing that set’s me apart is the fact that I seek the kingdom first before I move, whether it is music or anything I contribute to this world, I consult God in prayer for his direction because it is his doing and none of mine.

What have I been up to lately? Recently I found out that my husband Francisco (Flinstone) Santa Cruz is being considered for a nomination for the upcoming 65th Grammy awards for a song that I co-wrote with him, and our dear friend and brother Grammy-nominated artist Charlie Bereal. My husband is the artist on the song and the song is entitled “Ahh Change”

What makes you happy?
Helping people is literally my joy! I love to do things unexpectedly for people who least expect it.
