Meet Denise Samantha Mendoza of Roof Los Angeles in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Samantha Mendoza.

Denise, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am originally born and raised in San Jose, CA and moved out to Las Vegas in 2002. I bought my first house in 2009 at the age of 22, I lived in Las Vegas at the time and instead of renting I knew that I could invest my money into a home instead. I will be honest, I didn’t hire a real estate agent, instead I researched as much as I could about first time home buying. When I got to the process of entering escrow, I knew almost everything and the development team asked if I was an agent this whole time! I never thought of it, but I knew more than I should’ve as a first time home buyer. I then landed my first real estate job in 2010 as a personal transaction coordinator for a couple of real estate agents at Gavish Real Estate in Las Vegas. One agent in particular Lana Ober (Gavish’s top producing agent) – taught me everything I needed to know from Traditional to REO sales. I moved onto commercial after Lana had moved to Australia. I worked for NAI Capital which gave me my knowledge into multi-family. When I finally moved back to California my first job was offered as a leasing agent for Monem Corporation. I was taught the basics and details of property management there. I started to branch off and worked for different brokers until I decided to start my own company specializing in residential leasing/renting.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
NOTHING in real estate is smooth, every transaction is different than one another.

Many a times it’s a loss of deals falling through or clients back out have been the struggles. I’ve learned a lot more mistakes and lessons through my actual brokers’ deals.

That is what a broker is truly for, not only to oversee their clients, your clients but as a mentor and many times a protector. Teaching how to overcome the situation and all other options to make sure everything is legal, everyone is happy and the experience was positive.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Roof Los Angeles – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in residential leasing/renting homes, apartments, condos etc minimum one year. Having social media and internet, jobs have been easier to telecommute-work from home. The seller’s market in California hasn’t been the best for first time home buyers or transplants, so I know that leasing is always a better option. It also doesn’t tie down clients to a mortgage commitment. Since our generation is so huge on travel and keeping an open mind with culture.

They would be able to stay in a place for a year and maybe move around to another city or even country! Also having these clients has benefited me since they build the relationship with me, and when they are ready to buy, they give me a call and I send them to my loan officer and hopefully they’ll be on their way to being home owner or future investor themselves! I also am a full service brokerage – I do assist in residential buying and selling, but I feel the generation of traditional home owning has shifted. This generation has changed its perception of living and alternative lifestyle choices and I want to help in any way I can with what their idea of “home” is.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I would like to create a streamline franchise brokerage that specializes in leasing worldwide to all the large cities. I’d love to expand to Tokyo, London, Paris, New York, Manila, Hong Kong the list can go on!
