Rising Stars: Meet Yadira Romero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yadira Romero.

Hi Yadira, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my professional journey as a cosmetologist 17 years ago. I worked really long days at two salons for a while, I met some really great people that introduced me to a few producers and vendors and the rest is history! My work speaks for itself as well as my work ethic, I believe that being true to yourself and being confident will get you in the right doors.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I definitely faced struggles, no clientele, long work hours, feeling like maybe this wasn’t the right career path numerous times in my 17 years in this industry. I promised myself that I needed to get my confidence back and show everyone that I can do this, mostly I needed to show myself I am capable of being successful.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in “natural” glam, my job as an artist is to make you feel your absolute best on your special day. I mainly work with brides and the most common thing I hear is “I want to look like myself” I’ve got you! Listening and creating a relationship with these clients is what sets me and my work apart from the rest. This industry is extremely saturated and everybody wants to be “better” than everyone else. Having confidence is a must! Delivering what the client requests is the ultimate goal, she will look back at her photos and videos to say “Yadira did exactly what I asked for and exceeded my expectations!”

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Keep practicing and stay confident. We are ALWAYS learning, as many years as I’ve been in the beauty industry I still learn from others, I make sure to continuously educate myself by taking hair styling and makeup application courses. Also, it’s just hair and makeup !! If you make a mistake or if someone doesn’t like something it’s totally ok! And remember it can be fixed and adjusted. Taking criticism is important, this will help you grow as an artist and will thicken your skin to not be overly sensitive about your craft.
