Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Blank.
Ryan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started playing in smaller home games in high school and college with friends in Baltimore and Charleston, then 2-5, and 5-10 at the Commerce and Bike, along with Aria, Wynn and Bellagio in Las Vegas also the Borgata in Atlantic City.
Slowly I started playing much bigger stakes 25-50 and 50-100 No limit; which is what I seek out now mainly in private games with other business owners and people who love the game.
I am far from a professional as I just do it as a fun pastime and enjoy the social aspect as much as the challenge of the game.
Playing on the Hustler Live Stream against some of the best cash game players in the world was very exciting and I plan to play again soon on future streams.
For now, I mainly play in Florida, Vegas and DC games.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Everyone has ups and downs in the game, and you go through periods where you are doing well and other times when you need to take a break.
About nine years ago, I had back surgery and was unable to play for over a year. I am grateful to play when I can and experience everything that poker has to offer.
I still enjoy it very much in moderation but balancing it out with work and family can sometimes be difficult.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Other than Poker I invest in real estate, specifically self-storage development deals in the North East. I am partners on several other financial services and marketing-related businesses. I own a minority share in a restaurant and also a minority share of a few racing horses.
My biggest accomplishment in Poker was cashing in the WSOP main event end of Day 4 in 2022.
I always treat everyone with respect and try my hardest to be nice to everyone, you never know what someone else has been going through, so why not be nice.
Doing the right thing and loyalty are key in my decision-making.
I am most proud of the businesses I have helped build and the challenges I have overcome to get to where I am today.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Disneyland with family! My Dalmatian Pebbles!
