Today we’d like to introduce you to Imani Jackson.
Hi Imani, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a model and wellness influencer who moved to Los Angeles from Baltimore, Maryland. In addition, I am a former student-athlete so health and fitness is very important to me. My body is also my art, my canvas that I enjoy expressing via photos/videos. My journey has been much of me doing just that for others. Beauty work is my favorite and being in a warmer climate has allowed me to continue my fitness and health goals while still maintaining modeling. Being here in California has allowed me to pursue the dreams that now I can say are becoming a reality…
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Obstacles always come around but I feel that each time they did come, I just got better at handling them. The minor struggles of moving across the country was difficult to leaving family/friends and this being my first time moving out in general. Other than the obvious I had to find a way to create income yet stay creative in what I wanted to do. In addition, I did not have a car originally here so I had to find ways to get to castings/interviews and gigs. Of course one of the biggest letdowns is not hearing back from castings that I really want. These obstacles shape me and motivate me to want more and to never give up. Challenges are temporary, my mind is here forever…
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I push off nothing but natural energy to the world. Earlier in my career, I wanted to focus more on how versatile my modeling was. Doing different editorial shoots was where I feel most people known me for. My goal is to show the world that I’m a beautiful canvas. I push that more now. Wearing colors that match nature and little to no makeup for most shoots to allow my art to show freely/truly. Nonetheless, like I mentioned before Beauty is my favorite and I have done grungy work for LA brand hellonhood, skincare & swimwear brands and worked with music artists like “Bia”, “Gherbo” “Marshmellow”. All my work is freelance and that makes me proud within myself. I want to show my natural vulnerable feminine energy to the world and I’m not scared to do so.
I want people to feel the beauty of being and looking themselves when they see my work. Next step for me that are challenging yet possible is finding an agent/agency.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’m a plant mom! Specifically, cannabis plants because they have so many medicinal properties. I’m a huge believer for herbal medicines. Currently getting my master’s in Cannabis Science and Therapeutics. I will have an upcoming cannabis business soon.
