Today we’d like to introduce you to William Pierre.
Hi William, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been around music my whole life. I practically came out of the womb listening to music. As I got older, however I began to listen to different genres and comprehend music on an intellectual level. It wasn’t until my senior year of high school however that I began to study the business side of things in music. I read a lot of books daily and studied certain people including Sean Combs, Pierre Thomas, Steve Lobel, and Kanye West. A short time after indulging myself in this business world, I suffered a sports injury during my second year of college that would eventually prevent me from playing basketball. However, this injury would prove to be profound and cause me to eventually shift my focus and start the creation of my current business. I never thought of myself to become a rapper or singer but I retained and understood a great deal of how the music business operated. I had a lot of friends in successful statures that would mentor me often behind the scenes. I also had friends at the time that would do music as well. From time to time, I would help them in their careers. Whether that resulted in disagreement, nevertheless it was a learning experience. I would go on and graduate from California State University Dominguez Hills with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and minor in communications. Shortly after, I began to work with developmental artists in smaller circles within the hip hop scene. At the same time, I began to see my true potential and created what is now Heart Of A Lion Entertainment in the same year. The situation wasn’t great in the hiphop lane but to me, it was fine because I understood and grew up more so with other genres and the overall picture. I also had people that knew and trusted me with their careers to take them to the next level. So in other words, I would say it’s safe to say it’s destiny for me to become an Artist Manager in a weird fashion. I began managing my first artist and the rest in history in the making.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Generally yes, personally no. Early on, I had to understand why things functioned the way they did. This forced me to understand why certain people have the success they do rather than others. Looking at the bigger picture the Music Industry can be a cold game but it’s the smart players know how to win the game. I’ve had to make sacrifices and let people go along the way but looking at the overall picture, I would say it’s for the best.
We’ve been impressed with Heart of a Lion Entertainment, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I professionally manage actors and musicians. I recently started company called Heart of A Lion. I currently only specialize in actors and musicians in the entertainment world. I’m currently known for working and managing RNB singers and Pop stars. At this point early in my career, I would genuinely say that I’m proud of my versatility and resilience in this industry. My knack to get the job done no matter what the situation is. What I believe sets me and my company apart from others is that I value diversity in people and music. I also hold strong to truth, honesty and remaining impersonal to the society we live in.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is drive and honesty. When an artist or musician comes to me with an eagerness, drive, and honesty to get work done, it makes me want to push harder for them. Another would be to see consistency in each of my client’s respectful lanes and for them to utilize me and my knowledge. I’m a firm believer in if you want it, you have to go get it. I like to think I express that within my team rather than lazyness.
