Today we’d like to introduce you to Oscar Dominguez and Monique Pucciarelli.
Oscar, Monique – please kick things off for us. We’d love to hear your story.
Our team includes Monique (who is also an artist and exhibits regularly) in sales and marketing, our awesome filmmaker/ editor Luis, Jose who is an amazing photographer, and Oscar the lead photographer and founder.
Oscar’s love for cinema and movie making goes back to when he was studying Philosophy at the university in Mexico City. On his spare time, he’d watch movies and learn how they were made, and was drawn to both photography, and film by how powerful they were as mediums to tell stories.
After purchasing his first camera, he taught himself, and experimented with short films. His practice paid off when friends eventually asked him to take photos or shoot video at their weddings.
“I saw that we could combine our creativity, and passion to create a business which offered photography as well as filming services, and tell people’s stories. The rest is history…” – Oscar
Today, Oscar still shoots, and produces short films as well as run the photography studio.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Technology is constantly fluctuating, and transforming especially within the last ten years.
Now more than ever technology once used overwhelmingly by professionals is widely accessible to the public making the market more competitive.
Everyone has a smartphone, apps, and the ability to take decent pictures. That makes our industry of professionals less desirable despite the obvious disparity in quality of services. We are a digital generation. But in our studio, we are a firm advocate of the printed image, nothing can compare to the value of a beautifully printed photograph which will last for generations to come.
Keeping up and staying relevant in the face of such rapid changes has definitely kept us on our toes. Despite this, it’s been fun and exciting to witness how quickly technology is changing, and learning along the way.
Please tell us about Moving Still Pictures Photography.
Being a wedding photographer is an enormous responsibility, one which we have the utmost respect for.
We capture fine art quality images that truly reflect the emotion of the moment.
Accomplishing this requires not only technical expertise but a refined artistic sensitivity. We approach each event as totally different from the one before because no two events are the same.
We specialize in weddings but also in Quinceañeras (sweet fifteen) and are proud to say that after 20 years, we still have brides who have become moms, and call us once again to photograph their daughter’s Quinceañera or Sweet 16. This means so much to us! We are happy that our clients value, and respect our work, and service. More than anything, we are proud of the people we have had the privilege to meet and connect with along the way.
I think what sets us apart from others is our passion for what we do. Our talent, integrity, and professionalism. We always give more than 100 percent of ourselves in all we do because we want our clients to be happy with our work, and the telling of their story.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
There are so many…but they all lead back to family and friends.
