
Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Roberts.
Hi Michelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The dinner table was the place we spent the majority of our time as a large family. The planning and preparation of meals was our quality time. When you have three generations of amazing cooks on both sides of your family, it stands to reason – my passion for sharing love through food.
Entertaining and Food go together like a hand and glove. While living in Little Elm, TX from 2007 to 2015 most of the friendships were formed around food. I will try to make anything at least once. A coworker knew my love for spicy foods and told me about “Firecrackers” as saltine cracker with chili flakes. I found a recipe online and started playing around with different seasonings until I have the right mix. I shared with friends every time I would make them. It was just a staple snack at my house.
Fast forward to moving back to California 2015, I made the crackers and shared with friends and one said: “you should sell these” had never thought of selling them – why, no one would ever pay for these.
By 2018, I started selling to a local wine bar and then a local bakery and sales were unbelievable.
These same crackers are now available in five stores in the Southern California area, I do several pop-up shops monthly and I have an online store for purchasing the crackers.
National Chip and Dip Day 2022, I was featured on channel 5 news for my Smoked Chicken Dip, only available at Waters Edge Wine Bar and Lounge in Long Beach Marina.
The rest is HER-story in the making.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My greatest obstacle has been ME. I trusted the product was good but I didn’t think I was the right fit for marketing the product. With the right coaching and a tribe of women encouraging me – I now know this is who I am and this is what I can do – and I believe in my skills and ability and I am grateful for every single purchase that proves – I CAN DO IT day after day.

While in Orlando, FL February 2018 someone who had never tried these crackers told me to get ready because Smokin’ Crackers will become a household name. (Minister Anita…remember?)

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I come from a long line of cooks; maternal grandmother a pastry chef for 27+ years, my mother best cake and cookie maker ever.
Cooking has always seemed like a labor of love – it was what we did. It has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember…so here we are.
I still remember the book “Like Water For Chocolate” the love and passion for preparing food.
