Today we’d like to introduce you to Maricela Martínez.
Hi Maricela, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Marys.Jewelry started in December 2019. I had a vision of starting a small business and getting a source of income. Since I had moved to San Diego to attend university. My ideas had started from doing macrame keychains to jewelry. Jewelry was the path I choose. I started selling first to my immediate family at family gatherings and they loved my product. A couple of months later, the Pandemic hit and affected everything worldwide. My classes went virtual and I moved back home to Oxnard, CA sales had slowed down since everything was unsure. I opened up a Twitter account and had started posting my products shortly after that I had gained sales. For a few months, all of my sales came from Twitter and Instagram. Fast forward to December of 2020, I had my first pop-up hosted by street of vintage. Pop-ups after Pop-ups my business has truly grown and I hope it grows more through the years. Marys.Jewelry has been something I look forward to if it’s from building new jewelry pieces to packing orders and attending more pop-ups it surely has become something I truly enjoy.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My name is Maricela Martinez and I am a full-time student attending Newschool of architecture and design. I am in my second year and going for my Bachelors in Architecture. One of the things I am very proud of is my small business. As a kid, I never had the patience to work with small delicate things the way I am now.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see my business expanding and having a couple of stores of my own and my products being sold by stores like target and kohls.
