Daily Inspiration: Meet Matthew Bravo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Bravo.

Hi Matthew, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a digital marketing specialist who was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Education has been my biggest priority in life because the more knowledge you have, the farther in life you will be able to go. As early as high school I got exposure to marketing with website design, and then went on to attend Texas A&M University with plans to study business. I decided a degree in marketing was the best route to take and fell in love with the entire industry. This is when I started taking my professional career seriously and began looking for careers in the field. I’ve always been focused on my future and career so throughout my college career, I also worked as a social media manager and brand ambassador for multiple companies in Texas. Although I love the lone star state, Los Angeles is the #1 place to be for anything and everything social media. Being in this city has allowed me to pursue more and better opportunities, work with top name companies, and live my dream life working in marketing in a huge city while also enjoying life on the beach.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but life is a journey. I got my first job and started paying for my own things at 15. At 19 years old is when I had to become financially independent. I didn’t have anyone I could ever ask for money to help pay living expenses, so throughout my entire college career, I was a full-time student, active in several organizations, had to pay all my bills, and this led to me always working 1-2 jobs. When I finally graduated college, I had less than a month to figure out how I was going to get myself to Los Angeles but had no friends, family, or even a prior visitation to California. While figuring out how I was going to move to a new state, it was also the winter holiday season so I was much as I wanted to celebrate, I was struggling with figuring out what I was going to do with all of my belongings in Texas. Those few weeks passed quickly but I am proud to say that by age, I had graduated with my bachelor’s degree and moved to LA. It was going smooth for a bit until problems began popping up immensely here such as being pickpocketed in WeHo and losing my vaccine card, debit card, and phone (which had over 150 unposted video drafts and months of already edited photos and video content I had planned to post), during the Superbowl weekend. This is only the most recent occurrence, but I’m not one to dwell over the past much because I always find a way to keep moving forward towards my goals.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I make user-generated content for products and also do short video shoots (TikTok style) for local businesses. This is my career shift, after originally being a social media manager/strategist. Although I have worked with a variety of people, my work is mainly with coffee/tea shops. I have spent a lot of time in these spaces from hanging with friends in high school, to late night study sessions in college, and I love getting to experience new coffee and tea shops. I’m known for my very huge and outgoing personality. I have been able to express my personality online and in my work through clothing, accessories, vocabulary, music, ambiance, and most importantly color. I am most proud of my commitment to chasing my dreams no matter how difficult things have gotten. I’ve continued to push myself to keep moving forward and doing better so that way I can take the success I receive and share it with others. My drive and commitment is what sets me apart from others.. I am willing to put myself out there, embarrass myself, contact 100 leads and get rejected by the majority of them, but still continue to chase after every single opportunity that I can get myself in front of, no matter what the outcome may be.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
100% I LOVE the beaches! Being able to specifically go to the beach and watch the sunset while walking barefoot on the shore is probably the most therapeutic thing to have happened to me. Los Angeles is full of many unique people and I feel very influenced by the others here to chase after my dreams, get out of my comfort zone and live my life in the best way possible every day. I like the traffic the absolute least. It can literally ruin your day/plans sometimes. I’ve had to cancel my entire day plans because traffic is so predictable, outside of rush hours.
