Conversations with Rocket House

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rocket House. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Rocket House is a project created by Riccardo Gresino and Francesco Staccioli.

We are both active musicians with the same vision for music. We have been working together since 2018 and now we are ready to publish our debut album and start touring. Between 2019 and 2021, we assembled talents from all around the world to give voice to our music. We found our perfect sound putting together a group of eight musicians: solid rhythm section, vibraphone, two horns and percussion. Since then, Rocket House has performed in various established and highly anticipated events like Salem Jazz & Soul Festival and “Rocket House live @The Mint”  in Los Angeles, which had a rather successful reception.

With 3 released singles and the hype coming from the audience, our debut album is around the corner. It will be out in Spring 2022.

We are excited about it, and we cannot wait to make you part of the house!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Just like in Life, nothing is always smooth and going according to your plans. Despite this, we always work hard pursuing our dream, finding solutions when problems arise.

A big challenge came in 2020 with the pandemic.

Like everyone else, we found ourselves without the possibility to connect and share something in person.

Our main issue (music-related) was not being able to record our album.

Although we did dozens of virtual recordings, we chose to wait until we could gather, preserving our energetic sound and intention made possible only with live interplay and life experience exchanges in the recording booth.

We turned this uncomfortable situation into a productive system, focusing on growing and improving our musical and personal knowledge.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Sure, we usually love to introduce this topic starting from our name: Rocket House. We love space and what represents in terms of pushing forward, discovering new possibilities, approaching adventures, always in a sparkling way, as a Rocket.

We deeply believe in sharing experience with our fellow musicians and audience; without this element, our sounds would not be engaging and communicative as it is.

The world House came out from this belief and every time we play, we want to make you feel like home.

The composition process always starts from Francesco Staccioli and Riccardo Gresino developing each idea into a colorful scenery.

Melodies are always at the basis of our music. We see them as communicative and soulful elements that allow us to open new doors.

This writing process gets along together with another significant signature mark, the harmony, that many critics have defined as “enjoyable and fresh”.

After this, we work on the arrangement for the whole band, leaving room for new possibilities coming from our players.

With them, we created a meaningful solid relationship that feels more like being members of the same big family. There’s Aubrey Situmorang (bass), Shaddy Oppong (drums) Craig Jackson (Tenor Sax) Samuel Cerra (Vibes), Cristiàn Tamblay (drums), Leonardo Bertinelli and Rodrigo Martins (engineers).

What were you like growing up?
Ever since deciding to become professional musicians, we always worked hard towards this goal. It is a big privilege that can be achieved with determination, responsibility, and sacrifice. This attitude led us to have the chance to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston for three years. Being outside of our home country and surrounded by musicians from all over the world gave us more tools, knowledge, and skills. After this experience, a new chapter has begun and now we are making a name for ourselves in the Los Angeles jazz scene, bringing our unique taste serving the vibrant and competitive music community in here.

Rocket House will soon release a highly anticipated debut album. A tour is also in the works to bring on the road our new fresh compositions.
