Rising Stars: Meet Monique Mosee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Mosee.

Hi Monique, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Well, I started out Classically trained in Jazz, classical and contemporary vocals, I started my entertainment career at an early age in music. I sang at RnB, Pop and Jazz venues throughout the Philadelphia and New York areas all through college and after graduating. I’ve done just about everything in the entertainment business from charting on the top 100 billboard charts, playing lead roles and singing in many major theatre’s and being the lead singer in several of the best orchestras in the Philadelphia market. My success in the theatre led me to bigger and better opportunities in the acting world. I signed with Plaza 7 Talent, which is the top Talent agency in Philadelphia where I quickly became the best booking talent in commercial and print. Onward and upward, I began booking films and Co-Star Television roles. and I was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a diaspora film “Transition”.

My success in acting and print modeling prompted me to want to pass on the blessings by coaching others to do the same. I began coaching at Plaza 7 Talent and grew to love it so much that I developed my own curriculum that has seen my students get signed with top agents and become successful as well.

After years working the Philly/NY market, my family and I grew tired of the cold and moved to California to try the market and the weather there. I was quickly signed to one of the top agencies in LA and after only one month, I booked my first job with a worldwide movie theatre campaign for ADT. My nine years old son, whom I coached, was also signed. He amazed the agents with his talent and booked an Amazon print campaign as the natural hair kid. I am now signed with an Agent previously with the 2nd largest agency in the world and have several national commercials and print jobs currently running. I am also signed theatrically with a major LA Theatrical agent and recently booked and shot a costar role on American Crime Story, which aired on FX.

The love of teaching others and this continues to be my passion so, I founded and opened Entertainers Life Boot Camp(ELBC). Many of my clients have gone on to get signed with Top Talent Agents.

I am consistently auditioning for major roles in TV and Film as well as continuing to book in Commercial and Voice – Over. I love the arts and will be manifesting opportunities for myself and others till the end of my days.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
HA, HA, HA!!!! Smooth road?!! That’s really a hilarious question. The entertainment world is the opposite of smooth. In between all of that bio, I graduated from college with a BA in Business Management (because my parents didn’t support the idea of me being in the arts) while working like three jobs and performing on weekends. After graduating, I worked in finance off and on as a Loan Officer, Financial Aid Officer and other positions. Bought a little row house, got married, a few years later had two boys four years apart, was unemployed and struggled to make ends meet many times throughout all of that and I still somehow (with all the help in the world from my family and my husband) launched a singing, acting and coaching career.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an actress first and also an acting, modeling and singing coach. I would like to specialize in comedy, however I’m open to all genres of acting. I’m pretty funny so I end up with comedic-type roles and I love that. I’m most proud of my national commercials, voice-overs and print jobs over the years. I’ve had great success in that world as well as my co-star role on a major TV network, American Crime Story on FX. What I think sets me apart is my love for what I do, my passion for the arts is above all else. Not a paycheck, but the joy of acting, singing and coaching others on the path to this wonderful journey in the entertainment world.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
More digital and independent platforms for artists who otherwise would not have a voice. More diverse content, written by and for the people they represent. Everything we want to see will be at our fingertips.
