Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan James DeLaney.
Hi Ryan James, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in Fenton, Missouri 20 minutes west of St. Louis, Missouri.
I have two sisters and a brother.
Lindsey, Rachel and Andrew. I am the firstborn sibling and grandchild in my family.
I grew up on a horse ranch working and training quarter horses, I learned the true meaning of work growing up on a ranch.
Even if your sick or tired, crazy weather conditions, the animals and ranch still rely on you.
I would work in all weather elements and seasons. I found that actually very inspirational to be able to experience that.
I thought I wanted to become a veterinarian and eventually, the entertainment world just kept calling my name.
Fast forward through some of the dark years and I end up in Miami Florida.
Miami is where I started really studying acting at the University of Performing Arts of Miami.
I eventually meet agent Dana West who I am still friends with to this day who helped get me a small job on “The Hunger Games”
We filmed “The Hunger Games” in Atlanta, Georgia. I had the time of my life watching and learning and seeing how a set was ran.
I mean watching Jennifer Lawrence act and being only an arms length away was inspiring enough for me to leave Miami, Florida after Georgia and move across country to Los Angeles, California to persuade my dreams of becoming an actor!
I have always been a producer at heart and would / will be producing things and not even know it. Earlier in my career, I was producing but just never got credit for it.
For me, I will never give up on acting. I am still pursuing but loving every aspect of Producing and starting films from the ground up.
I finally got credit where credit was due!
One evening a few years ago, I meet Niki Koss, we connected right away and she offered me an associate producer position on her directorial debut “Night Night”.
A psychological thriller about April Davis waking up from a horrific car accident, April must find a way to work through her trauma and a will to survive a recovery from hell, starring Brenna D’Amico.
I was flown to Dallas, Texas for a week or so of pre-production and three or so days into filming, I was brought into the office by the director, writer and fellow producer on “Night Night”.
I surprisingly was not nervous at all. In fact, I manifested that I will get the opportunity to showcase my skills as a Producer and instead of me asking for a Producer credit, I will show them why I deserve to be a Producer on “Night Night” and that’s what I did.
I blew the “Night Night” team out of the water.
That is how I became one of the Producers on “Night Night”.
And my long story short of how I currently reside in Los Angeles, California working as a film producer and creative executive for K Factor Films, taking the lead on several projects that are slated for a 2021 release.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every day is an adventure! Working in the entertainment business, in my opinion is one of the bumpiest roads I have ever driven down.
There are so many highs and lows and times where the road gets smooth and your like ok this is great, this ride is fun, then out of know where you hit a bump then another bump and another and all of a sudden your back on that smooth ride.
I would say each department of the entertainment business has its own struggles.
Since struggles are different for each, I will say it’s how you overcome the struggles that is important/worth talking about.
My advice is to persevere each and every day and believe in yourself or nobody else will, know what you bring to the table and always be kind.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create balance for not just myself but for others around me. Also, I understand what “enjoying the moment” really means.
I believe that’s what sets me apart, and of course my goofy personality. I think that’s what others would say that sets me apart.
I am very proud of my equestrian background. I grew up training quarter horses and working on the farm. I am a professional equestrian.
I am extremely proud of my most recent films including CORSICANA, directed by Isaiah Washington, and NIGHT NIGHT, directed by Niki Koss.
I wear many hats in addition to producing, such as acting and modeling.
After a prosperous modeling career that eventually won me 2018 Male International Supermodel, I decided to try my hand at acting.
I spent many years studying at the University of Performing Arts of Miami before I landed roles in USA’s GRACELAND and the world-renowned HUNGER GAMES.
I am currently working as a producer and creative executive for K Factor Films, taking the lead on several projects that are slated for a 2021 release.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Besides my family and friends and of course That Girl Mia (my dog)
Going on any kind of adventure and laughing of course makes me happy!
What is a Ryan adventure? I think it’s taking the road less traveled on!
Those roads are always fun, entertaining, you’re absolutely going to laugh and remember it whatever it may be.
