Rising Stars: Meet Bobby Nahill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobby Nahill.

Bobby, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Raised in the quaint coastal town of Cohasset, Massachusetts, I am so grateful for the upbringing I had. My parents were the type who did everything in their power to provide what they didn’t get to experience or have growing up. Both working full time and raising triplets (yes you read that correctly, three boys!), they instilled a treasure chest of life lessons that I will forever cherish.

Although my brothers and I aren’t identical, my parents immediately saw the importance of establishing individual identities for each of us. Known around town as “The Nahills” or “The Triplets,” our personalities and interests naturally developed over time, and I found my strongest voice and sense-of-self through the performing arts.

The three of us played multiple sports and musical instruments, but being on stage intrigued and fulfilled me more than anything. I performed in every play and musical I could (my real breakout role was playing a frog while in the awkward braces pre-puberty phase.) I discovered the power of the stage; the ability to emotionally connect with hundreds of people at once in a way that no words could measure up to.

I took my passion for performance to the City of Angels, where I studied acting and broadcast journalism at the University of Southern California. I fell in love with film and worked on any student project I could. Ultimately, both degrees taught me how to become the jack of all trades by learning how to write, produce, edit, and perform in my own work. While in the post-grad grind (juggling two to three jobs at a time, acting classes, agent showcases, casting workshops and scrambling to get any audition possible), making content had consistently been the fuel to the creative fire.

Needless to say, everything changed with COVID-19. But within the chaos of it all, content creation became my comfort. I had my camera, my iPhone, and my ideas at disposal. I also discovered the wonderful world of TikTok, a platform unlike anything else. I was immediately drawn to all of the editing features of the platform and how it’s a space that fully embraces anything and everything. I tried my hand at all of the trends and whatever my mind could come up with.

I had to move around a few times throughout the pandemic. Relocating to Atlanta was one move I hadn’t anticipated. I had been eagerly looking for representation for years. Nothing had come into fruition except in summer of 2020. An agent-based in the Southeast reached out to me, and she was everything I had wanted in a rep. Never having been to Atlanta, I knew this was the best opportunity going for me and took the leap of faith. It was the best decision I could have ever made.

I went from auditioning once a month, if I was even lucky, to now having a minimum of three auditions a week. Los Angeles trained me so well for what the hustle of this industry really requires, and it’s helped me hit the ground running.

Fast forward to March 2021, one of the craziest months of my life. I continued to avidly create content on TikTok, and in one week, I went from 4,000 to 100,000 followers. My adrenaline had never been so high! However, the biggest surprise from that was an email I received out of the blue from a talent manager based in Los Angeles.

We had a fantastic meeting, and he said “I normally would have never reached out to someone solely off of social media, but I went through your materials and really believe in your acting abilities.” In that moment, I realized all of the countless hours spent in classes, workshops and on unpaid projects truly paid off.

Now I am in the position of being able to live my dream as a bi-coastal actor and having the joy of speaking with you today!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like true 405 fashion, the road of life is filled with detours, construction, potholes, and traffic. Ironically, I’ve never had a car since moving to LA!

But when there’s a will there’s a way. If I have to bike a mile, hop on two buses and the metro to get to an audition or acting class in between two jobs, I’ll do it.

Struggle has taught me to figure out what I really care about personally and professionally, how to push past my fears and the importance of being grateful for any win that I earn, big or small.

I have to constantly remind myself, “what do I have to lose?” Because when you put all of the “what ifs” aside – what real obstacles are getting in the way besides yourself?

It’s always so mind-blowing to me reflecting on certain past decisions I’ve made and thinking about how challenging those times may have been in the moment, but how vital they were to shaping the success of my future.

No matter what life path you take, there will always be struggle. So why not do what you love and have some stumbles along the way?

From the day I decided to pursue what makes me feel the happiest and most fulfilled, I haven’t had a single ounce of regret. If anything, choosing to dive headfirst into what I love has only enriched my life.

And if you choose to pursue whatever that calling is inside of you, I promise you won’t regret it either.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Acting is my emphasis, but I love to be creative in all forms – writing, photography, drawing, dance, content creation, etc.

I grew up naturally inclined to the arts, spending hours making cartoons and logos on scrap paper, picking up musical instruments and choreographing to my favorite songs.

I try to live each day doing something creative and fitness-related. Especially in between auditions, it helps me feel stimulated, balanced and proactive. I’ve found that as I enrich my life with multiple outlets and passions, my acting becomes more vibrant and well-rounded.

Being able to be an actor is a true privilege that I take so much pride in. When someone asks me what I do, responding with “I’m an actor” feels so gratifying. To have unconditional support from my friends and loved ones is an absolute blessing and something I wouldn’t trade any dollar amount for.

If you couldn’t tell, I’m an eternal optimist. I also love getting to know people and can really talk to anyone. I’m naturally curious, and learning about the lives of others fascinates me. Let’s grab coffee sometime!

What’s next?
It’s funny thinking about this question because I used to be the kind of person who HAD to know what would come next and jam packed my daily schedule in order to feel satisfied. I would make fear-based decisions rather than trusting the process and waiting for what feels right.

My mentality has really shifted over this past year. When someone asks me how I’m doing or what I’m up to, I reply with, “just taking it day by day!”

I no longer feel like I’m not “doing” or “being” enough if my day has some free time in it. I’ve taken comfort in the unknown of what’s coming next. I’ve learned how to truly be present in the moment.

I say to myself daily, “I don’t chase, I attract. What’s meant for me will find me.”

Now of course, I have certain financial, professional and personal goals in mind that I try to create a plan for to the best of my abilities, but I’m now more open-minded and accepting of whatever outcomes happen.

I’ve learned that this industry has no rule book and anything is fair game, and in return that excites me to let my aspirational imagination run wild.

Ultimately, I would love to be a consistently working and well-respected actor, travel the world freely, establish an incredibly successful and diverse production company, help all of my friends professionally in any way I could, support my loving family and charities that mean the most to me, and live in my dream California beach-front home.

Given how many changes happened this year – let’s hope the next biggest change is landing my “big break”!
