Rising Stars: Meet David Aure

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Aure.

Hi David, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Two years ago, my son Kai was born and I decided to purchase a camera to take photos of him. At the same time, I started planning with two of my close friends on creating an event company. I’ve had success in the past on promoting local shows and I wanted to see if I could make some side money. We invested in on an art location through peerspace.com and the idea was to throw a free event showcasing one of our friend’s pieces of art. Of course, two years ago the world completely changed because of the pandemic. We tried reaching out to peerspace.com for a refund but unfortunately they were not able to refund us but they did give us an option to allocate the money elsewhere. We decided to use the credit to book a smaller studio (shoutout to Meraki Studio Space) and interview our artists/friends. There is where I learned through a lot of mistakes and fell in love my camera. Since our first interview, I’ve personally have not turned back and I’ve actually decided to double down and pivot our “event company” to a film production company. That is how we got here today.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
At the beginning, it was pretty smooth because we didn’t know what we were doing. We didn’t understand how to utilize our cameras and lighting that were available to us at the Meraki Studio Space. Now it’s a bit rough because we have paying clients that have an expectation for us to deliver a solution. So we are constantly learning and adapting quickly.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Aww Films is a film production company. Our mission is to ignite passion through film that encourages one to inspire another. We’re passionate about telling stories through video and setting up our clients with everything they need for maximum engagement. What we are most proud of is our ability to build a connection with our clients and help them solve problems. We provide direction, production, and promotion.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I know my limitations and I know my team’s strengths. We all understand it takes a village to build an empire. My ability to galvanize my team and have them know that I got their back as much as they got mine is most important to my success. Without them theirs no business.
