Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashalee Fann.

Hi Ashalee, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey towards living in my purpose began a few years ago when SURFACE LA was established. I wasn’t exactly sure how to get to where I was going, but I knew I needed to start taking the steps to get there. I had spent over 13 years in an industry that never felt like home, so it was time for me to take a leap of faith. That initial leap of faith was expedited when I found out that I was expecting my first child. If there was any doubt in my mind that the time was now, the news of a baby eliminated all of my fears.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t say that the road has been smooth, but the fact that I am actually on the road is a true testimony. Of course, there are day-to-day frustrations in the process of establishing a new company, running a non-profit, performing, teaching, and being a new mom, but none of those compare to the challenges I ensued when I did not have the freedom to live and work in my true element.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
SURFACE LA is at the core of my work as I continue to be a dance educator within the non-profit sector, the public school setting, and private studios. I am Creative Director at 6B Productions and host of the Salty Sumdays podcast. On top of that, I take dance and acting classes regularly as I continue onward as a working artist.
