Meet Colin Macleod and Caroline Cardenas of Fly High Delivery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Colin Macleod and Caroline Cardenas.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Colin and Caroline. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The owner Eric started building the customer base four years ago. Once the business grew drivers were brought on to help with deliveries. I was one of the drivers and eventually Eric promoted me to manager. Now Eric has stepped back from the business to start a grow up north while I continue to run Fly High 7 days a week, 13 hours a day.

Has it been a smooth road?
None of it is smooth. From building a strong customer base to keeping a varied menu it all requires balance and strict financial discipline to remain profitable. Every day is a new fire to put out whether its securing a restock, dealing with difficult customers, or even traffic, the struggles are endless. Good thing we are stress relief experts!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Fly High Delivery story. Tell us more about the business.
My experience comes from a background in managing independent businesses. With every business, I’ve managed there is one common thread: good customer service. Caroline has been in the business for 15 years starting as a trimmer and gradually becoming a grower and cultivator. We think of Fly High as your friendly neighborhood medical provider. Our customers come back to us for our customer service. As we can’t compete with larger dispensaries we are dependent on quality product coupled with a friendly attitude. We take the time to get to know our customers likes and dislikes. Not to mention we deliver up till 1am for the night owls.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Legalization is kinda a problem for a small ma n pa shop like ours. Legal profitable product will be ubiquitous. More product means lower prices. Lower prices lead to price competition which narrows the profit/overhead gap. Ultimately, we will have our “Wal Marts” of weed and the smaller services will fade away when the corporate culture steps in to profit. Pretty soon Uber and Postmates will be delivering your weed.
