Meet Jessica Jablonski of Rise and Shine On Yoga in Mar Vista

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Jablonski.

Jessica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Marketing Account Executive turned Kids Yoga Teacher? That’s me!! After 13 years in the Pharmaceutical business, I needed to pause. The industry had hardened me so much and I had hit my breaking point. Always having a love for children, I decided to voyage into the land of kid’s yoga. Why kid’s yoga? I had seen how much yoga helped me through the tough times and wished that I had those tools when I was younger. I told myself I would give it a year, and then reassess. Well, that year was one of the best years of my life, and I’ve never looked back.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road has definitely been bumpy, filled with ups and downs and a whole lotta hustlin. But the thing is, when you truly feel like you are living your dharma, your purpose in life, you become resilient. You accept things at face value, stay true to who you are, and know that things will align when they are meant to. You keep on showing the world your voice.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m a 200 hour certified yoga teacher and I have also completed numerous kids yoga trainings. I teach all over the place! Let’s see, I teach all ages in a private setting, I like to call adults “big kids!” I mostly offer public classes, at local studios, for kids and families only. I also absolutely love throwing yoga birthday parties. I also teach at public schools during the school day, it’s truly an incredible program as children receive yoga once a week for 30 minutes Recently I have added workshops for parents, teaching them a summary of helpful tools, yoga poses and breathing techniques, to help them practice with their kids. I want to start extending my reach past the LA area and my goal is to work within media to share kids yoga throughout the country!

I think what I’m most proud of is how I make yoga FUN. I always say “let’s play yoga!” The thing is, growing up is tough! If I can teach kids (and big kids) to stay centered and always shine their light, I truly believe I can positively impact people’s lives. There’s no better feeling, I truly consider teaching such a gift.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes. Yes. Yes!!

Los Angeles is so advanced in their yoga practices, and I have seen kids yoga embraced with open arms. More and more studies are being published regarding the benefits of yoga for kids and kids yoga will continue to rise. Some schools even offer meditation instead of detention! It’s truly a magical time we are in.

Of course, adult yoga is always thriving here. I’m blessed to be a member of LA’s yoga community.
