Life & Work with Olga Kaplan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga Kaplan.

Hi Olga, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We wanted gymnastics to be safe and fun first and foremost, and available to everyone regardless of age and body type. We started this business in the summer of 2016 with the goal to bring this fresh perspective about gymnastics to the community, especially in the midst of the Larry Nassau scandal.

The first three years were very challenging. We had to deal with property leases, city permits, and staffing challenges. We applied our business and finance acumen to learn and were well on our way to owning a successful business when COVID hit. That was a hard year for a small business that is just getting its bearings. We were required to shut down and could only operate at 10% capacity, mostly online. However, we are so grateful to our families that stuck with us and helped us come out of it humbled but ready to fight for the success of our business. We learned many lessons about safety and diseases in general. We are now much better prepared to keep our clients safe.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Dealing with lease issues, getting city permits, finding the right staff, and of course, COVID.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The three ladies that run this business have various backgrounds. Olga was born in Russia, where she was a gymnast as a child. She then immigrated to the US to study economics and finance and currently holds a director position at a large bank. Olga balances her commitment to her full-time job and being an owner of Dream Elite by relying on technology to provide business support remotely.

Lourie grew up moving frequently in a military family; however Texas was her home base. She was a dancer as a child and then studied finance and accounting in college. Lourie worked as a CFO for various biotech and technology companies before she became the owner of Dream Elite. Lourie is the program and staff director for the business.

Lena grew up in Ukraine and played badminton as a child. She then immigrated to the US to study economics and computer science. She had a successful career working for IBM. Lena has been our technology/marketing director and social media coordinator since she joined Dream Elite.
