Rising Stars: Meet Unoma Nwofor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Unoma Nwofor.

Hi Unoma, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story is meant to be a fuel. It started in my early twenties when something in me knew that there is more to my life than what it was. I didn’t see it anywhere nor did I believe I was worthy to receive it. I used to watch and listen to mentors that I admired wondering why I felt undeserving. I got my heart broken a lot and didn’t have a sense of direction of what I wanted to do with my life.

Then one day, I became fed up and everything changed. I started to see and own my value. I didn’t want to be rich, I wanted a peace of mind and a life of possibility. I declared that I deserve a life of grace; willing to step out of my comfort zone to become the high-value woman I aspired to be. The reason why people won’t become who they want is because they are too attached to who they’ve been. When we start shifting our beliefs and changing our mindset, we begin to reprogram; we construct new habits and change how we respond to life. Realizing this made me aware of taking care of myself first. I have to rescue me first. I am much more valuable to my family and my community because I was willing to learn myself, my needs, desires, and wants to have value (self-worth). Acknowledging your self-worth, taking care of yourself (self-care) is commonly known for bubble baths and massages. But rarely spoken in a form of taking care of you mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically (your overall health). Social media changed everything, and now it’s easier to connect, share my knowledge and experiences with people that can relate. I created something meaningful. It has given me purpose.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road but it was worth it! Personally, I learned people will treat you according to how you treat yourself. I got trapped into holding myself back, not expressing myself, and dumbing myself down, so others wouldn’t feel uncomfortable in my presence. Until I realized it was time to be happy the same way I wanted someone else to feel happy. So, I had to treat me better. I started to forgive myself, developed a positive self-talk, and committed to me and my self-love journey.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the founder and creator of Manifested Self-Care- a brand dedicated to helping you prioritize yourself, honor yourself, and doing things you need to do to take care of yourself. MSC starts with the simple tasks of creating daily routines with a daily planner, to changing your mindset, and focusing on the things that matter to you. In other words, we encourage you to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself so you can be the best version of yourself.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was an over-achiever. I loved school, however, school didn’t always love me back. I dreamed of being well-known for doing something that helped people.
