Today we’d like to introduce you to Edna Barrón.
Hi Edna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a full time working single mother of three inspiring children. They are entering a time in their lives where they are facing high school and collegiate graduations. It is time that they find their place in the world as I have done with Gouda Charcuterie Boards (GCB).
During the onset of the pandemic in 2020 GCB was born. It was during our “Virtual Happy Hours” that I decided to become an independent entrepreneur. Small business is what the economy of United States was built on. GCB is my slice of the American dream while meeting the needs of my customers and satisfying my artistic desires. I began with reaching out to my immediate community and found GCB to be very well received. It was my pleasure seeing how much happiness an adult artistic “Lunchable in a Box” would bring to my customers.
As a policy I have always supported small business. With entering the field myself, I am humbled with the support I have received from so many empowering women. As a result, I have chosen to give back through the Latina Entrepreneurial Network. The Latina Entrepreneurial Network has a “mission to promote ‘entrepreneurial’ awareness and education through bilingual coaching, professional development and ‘networking.’”
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Time management has proven to be the biggest obstacle. As a mother, full-time employee and founder/owner of Gouda Charcuterie Boards (GCB) I found myself challenged by time management as the business exploded in growth during that first year. Trial and error creates growth. Ultimately I learned, and made the choice, that quality would never be sacrificed for quantity. This has sustained GCB and enhanced its reputation within the community it serves.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Charcuterie has been around since the 15th century. The pandemic of 2020 brought a new feel and look to your tables. As your “Charcuterie & Cheese Stylist”, I will create custom personal lunch boxes to expanding grazing tables for weddings and other events. I listen and work closely with my customers. It is exciting to customize the artistry of Gouda Charcuterie Boards (GCB).
I am proud of my signature Prosciutto Rosette. I created this rose while looking for a new way to display prosciutto. The Prosciutto Rosette has been a customer favorite since it was introduced. Meeting customer demand has ever increased GCB’s offerings and artistic gallery.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I am in the business of entertainment and creating experiences. As your “Charcuterie & Cheese Stylist” of Gouda Charcuterie Boards (GCB), I am committed to meeting each opportunity and challenge that comes to GCB. Each opportunity and challenge brings personal and professional growth. I am loyal to my customers and love the possibility of creating artistry on a full-time basis. As my children are set to find their places in this world, I hope that I have found mine. I am excited to see what the future holds.
