Exploring Life & Business with Alexis Lopez of CA MusicBox

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Lopez. Them and their team share their story with us below:

“Music saved my life.” Some call this phrase accurate and connect to it. Some say it’s overplayed and has lost its meaning. Some discredit it for not making literal sense. Regardless of how you see it, something about the phrase has caught on and resonated within the hearts of American Idol season 1 finalist Alexis Lopez.

Music provided a healthy outlet and a purpose to her life therefore she decided to give back to the community. Her goals and love towards education gave Alexis the fire to open a unique music facility in Northridge. California MusicBox is a stage, music studio and a music education facility to students of all ages, levels and styles.

Besides providing world-class and individualized education to each student, they host monthly jam sessions, which inspire confidence and encourage families to do music together.

Alexis is also a public music advocate regarding the benefit of music and music education. Alexis is an active participant in NVRCC “Education Connection” committee and in dozens of local schools by volunteering her time and efforts through music. Recently Alexis was awarded a united chambers of commerce award for her continuous support towards education.

Lastly, Alexis has released music and has won the John Lennon stay at home contest a Spotify award as well as a Hollywood Music award!

Aside from fun and unique, California MusicBox is an accredited school through University of London; where your lessons can become college credits.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being a musician is not glamorous all the time. It is full of hardship and struggles. Even with the American idol credit it is still very hard!

My main struggle is staying motivated and true to my course. Motivation won’t knock on your door every day for you to make music. There will be days when you just don’t feel like yourself with your instruments and your music sheets. Having these days is normal for a striving musician.

Additionally, a musician today has to have a solid team, a support system, be your own manager, entrepreneur and promoter. You have to be your biggest fan.

Lastly, there are a lot of issues and problems that can take a toll on a musician’s mental health. All these struggles can drain out a musician, mentally and emotionally. Anxiety and depression are common in the industry and this should not be taken for granted.

That’s one of the reasons why I created CA MusicBox to help and support younger musicians so they do not go through what I have been through

We’ve been impressed with CA MusicBox, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a Studio, Stage and Music Lessons! We are passionate about education in a positive and motivational way! We teach all instruments.

Our mission at CA | MUSICBOX is to train, educate and develop our students to excel not only in music but in everything they do. Developing the musicianship of our students is only the foundation. We believe that being part of our family, you learn self-discipline, build confidence and you create the empathy, openness and curiosity which is essential to creativity. Music is just a powerful force for the kind of personal growth that any of our students should go through in order to develop the necessary physical, intellectual and social skills, which are fundamental life skills.

Live Love Life with Music.

Don’t worry we always keep it fun and interesting!

Any big plans?
We are planning on expanding CA MusicBox. We are the only accredited music school of the Valley and we have just become are the only accredited acting/theater school. We will be offering college transferable acting classes as well as music.

Group and Band classes are always growing.

Additionally, I am finishing some more music and I will have more songs available very soon.
