Community Highlights: Meet Hannah Hale of AfroGirl By Hannah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Hale.

Hi Hannah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started off illustrating characters and a friend mentioned I should start putting my designs on t-shirts. One of my illustrations was a girl with afro and sunglasses and naturally, I felt it represented me because I have been natural for five years. My business has took off from there. Creating empowering and creative apparel and accessories for women who love their natural hair.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road especially starting in a pandemic. Shipping orders were very delayed and events that I was excited to promote my brand canceled. All of these challenges have helped me to be a better communicator with my customers and has given me time to build up my store and create more designs.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My brand was created for women to be empowered and passionate about their hair. Also inspiring them to show off their true authentic self. Our goal is the uplift our AfroGirl community to be proud and confident of their natural hair.

We sell apparel and accessories (jewelry, phone cases, lapel pins).

What sets us apart is I use my creative skills of being a graphic designer to create all my apparel designs.

I am really proud of the positive feedback I’ve heard from our customers and that we have been about to expand all over the country.

What I would like the readers to know about my brand is that we are available on land and excited to get out and meet our customers at future events. We will be at the LA Women’s Expo coming this December!

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by accomplishing my goals that I have set. Anything I put my mind to I achieve.
