Meet Chanise Dixon of Create the Flavor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanise Dixon.

Hi Chanise, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my culinary journey as a student at Los Angeles Trade Tech in 2017. After graduating in 2018, I had a short-lived business catering. While catering, I started developing and using my own seasoning blends for personal use. After catering did not work out for me, there was still an interest in the seasoning I previously used. From there Create the Flavor was born, I’ve been in business since my launch in March 2019. To date, I have been in several local markets in Los Angeles. Create the Flavor is about to launch some really exciting things to stay tuned.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road to building my business has not been smooth. As the owner and only employee, I have the responsibility to do everything. In this short time, I have acquired new skills just to keep my business running. There were days, even weeks, without sales or traffic to my website. There has been days where I have lost motivation or let the frustrations of running everything on my own stifle my creativity that helped me start Create the Flavor.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Create the Flavor?
Create the Flavor is a black-owned seasoning company based in Los Angeles. I formulate, blend and bottle my own seasoning recipes. My business is unique because every seasoning I sell, I have created through experience and research to bring the best blend of flavors together. I pride my business on using ingredients as they are. I do not add preservatives, additives or dyes to appeal to consumers. I want people to know that Create the Flavor was created to bring the best out of the food that we eat everyday. Everyone isn’t going to be the best cook or chef but with a little help, we can all enjoy food in a healthy way.

How do you think about happiness?
Being able to create and walk in my life’s purpose makes me happy. When I wake up and execute new ideas and products for Create the Flavor, it solidifies that fact that I am meant to be here. I am the happiest when a final product is in my hands. It’s worth the hardships to contribute to the world in a positive way.
