Inspiring Conversations with Kelby Joseph of KKO Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelby Joseph.

Hi Kelby, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I moved to LA in 2009, the day Michael Jackson passed away. On the plane ride, I was strategizing. I always knew I wanted to be in charge of my destiny. I studied acting and have a BFA but while in school, I was writing and producing for myself and for others. I did so because, by the time I set foot on California soil, I knew I wanted to produce and that would be my ticket into acting. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I also loved businesses. Some of the reasons why I helped people produce their projects was because the results always satisfied the effort. To see someone’s short film, commercial, or piece of content come to life exactly how they envisioned it, or better, gave me a sense of purpose. In 2018, I went back to school to get my MBA. I was all in. I was already producing content but now I wanted to really create change through my work. A little after graduation, I partnered with Konstantin Frolov and we created a strategy that helped my vision come to life. Today, we work with some of the most amazing companies, creating result-driven content and I’m proud of our accomplishments.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It certainly has not been a smooth road! I like to say I restarted this company about three times. It took years of strategizing, failing, and learning to get to where we are now and we still have many challenges to overcome! The key for me was simply having time. Time to plan, time to do research, time to implement strategy has been a lifesaver. Before, we just threw our name in the air and hoped something came back down. Today, we lead with our strongest leg and I won’t look back.
