Today we’d like to introduce you to Mattie Taylor.
Hi Mattie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started performing at little competitions when I was 8 or 9 years old, and I had a vocal coach at the time named Renee Grant Williams who had worked with Carrie Underwood. During that time, I stopped vocal lessons, and when I was 13 Cloud 9 Development reached out to work with me. So, I did that with Lyssa Coulter for three months but she has been helping me ever since. Last year, I did my very first gig at the Strawberry Festival because Makayla Mcdowell was sick and called me first, so I have been performing whenever I get the chance since then. But also some exciting things are coming up soon with music!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s hard dealing with the anxiety before performing, you always have the thoughts “Am I good enough?” or “Am I behind?”. Even me as a 15 years old, I still feel behind, but then I have to remind me to not put an age on myself with music. Everyone has different paces.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love songwriting even though I rarely share my songs, I don’t even share them with my family. I also love guitar playing, I recently have been going to guitar lessons. I’m most proud of me putting myself out there more because I’m a shy person. God has really helped me with that.
What’s next?
Releasing lots of music that comes from the heart. I want to create music that people relate to, that inspires them, that when they hear on the radio, they turn it up loud. I want to be THAT song for people.
