Meet Jennie Cho

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennie Cho.

Hi Jennie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
A few years ago, I was scrolling through Instagram and came across an art piece that I fell in love with. This artist photoshopped herself and her family into a dreamy, fantasy world, and it was so mesmerizing it made me feel like I was there – that feeling stuck with me. Anyone who’s known me for a while knows that I love anything fantasy-related, so it really hit home. I wanted to be able to do that. Luckily, I was already a heavy photoshop user because of my day job, so I didn’t need to start with the basics, but boy – composite art is a whole other ball game! Lots of hours were spent learning and practicing, which I’m still doing until this day. After a few months of practicing and creating a few pieces, I wanted to dedicate a page solely for my art, and @kumoscape came to life. I wanted to connect with a like-minded community who understood this part of me, and it’s been a crazy ride. I’m blessed to be friends with so many artists on the platform who I can constantly learn and grow from. It’s truly inspiring.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think as an artist/creative we all go through our share of frustrations, creative blocks, and insecurities. I know I have my fair share of doubts. Although I think every road has its challenges, what’s really important is perspective. So much of life is all down to perspective, and that has been the one constant that helped me get here. I took any negative emotions – doubt, fear, defeat – and used that as fuel to push me harder and as a means to continue. It helped me improve as an artist. But it was also important to remind myself to simply have fun with it. That’s why I started this in the first place – to let my imagination run wild.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a composite artist that loves to transport people to dreamy worlds. It’s hard to say what sets me apart from others… I went down this path learning everything on my own. I’m passionate about my work, and my imagination helps me create magic.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I find success in personal growth. When I challenge myself to go out of my comfort zone and reach that next level – that’s success. And it doesn’t stop because there’s always more to achieve.
