Life & Work with Sergio Sanchez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sergio Sanchez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born in 1976, I arrived in LA in July 2019! I’m a drummer and musical producer, composer and arranger. I started playing drums at the age of 11! Throughout my career, I played several music styles and artists in Brazil. I traveled all over the country on tours. I am a music producer and besides having recorded several albums I was also musical director of several singers (Brazilian Country style) I always liked Heavy Metal and Hard Rock as my main style I’ve done parts of bands like Endless, Aquaria, Target X, Marc Snow, internationally recognized, among others, currently I just joined the band Wikkid Star and we are Recording the Second Studio Album where we will have some songs of my own!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Musical life is never a smooth road. We live up and down all the time, one hour you are playing on the same stage as Guns N Roses before their show the other day you are playing in a Pub for 70 people, but the music is how we got used to it, the Musician does not choose to be Musician, Music chooses you, and there’s no escaping it! But I feel happy and fulfilled with my old works and my Current ones, and we are always looking for the next step to be taken !!! But my biggest difficulty is being fought at the moment that I’m here learning English and playing in an American band! Thanks to my bandmates who are great with me and patients, we are getting along well hahahaha.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Well, as I said! I’m a professional drummer I play several music styles like: Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Pop, Soul, R&B, Country and (Brasilians rithms) I am known for being a workaholick musician and perfectionist, I like to use phrases with double bass when playing drums, and I am also a composer, I think that all differentiates me from others You don’t see many drummers composing and producing around.

What makes you happy?
There are some things that make me happy. Playing on a stage doesn’t matter how big, but the audience is loving what we’re doing! Record an album that when I hear it again, it feels like (I would do it all the same again) Riding a motorcycle with friends And come back from a tour to get home and be with my family again and be able to sleep in my bed!
