Today we’d like to introduce you to Bernard “TreWay” Lambert.
Growing up in North Philadelphia, TreWay began playing drums at three years old. Having a family full of amazing singers and musicians. He was molded by the live music community through his strong upbringing in the church, weekly jams across the city, and attending the Girard Academic Music Program. Being brought up in the music scene by Philadelphia’s top musicians and producers such as James Poyser, Adam Blackstone, Omar Edwards, George “Spanky” McCurdy, Brian Frasier Moore, Vidal Davis, Andre Harris, Jeff Bradshaw and the Philly legend himself The Magnificent DJ Jazzy Jeff. TreWay went on to become the new face of live music for the next generation. It’s always about being ready before “The Call”, Matthew 24:44 which was something he learned from watching and learning from the greats before him. You always want to be ready for any situations when it comes to music.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
His journey did not come without his fair share of struggles though. After graduating high school and playing drums around the world with GRAMMY award-winning gospel artist Tye Tribbett, he was nearly killed in from a stray bullet in his North Philadelphia neighborhood. He bounced back with unshakable faith in God and unstoppable prayers from his family and loved ones. Relaunched his brand OnDa1 which promotes accomplishing your goals/dreams and building community from music. Which consists of a clothing line, TV Network, mentoring program, teaching, motivational speaking, a radio show, and weekly vlog post about his remarkable journey. It’s become a branding blueprint for other musicians following his steps and journey.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Many will call TreWay your favorite artists’ favorite genre-defying drummer. He’s completed numerous tours with Meek Mill, Future, Jazmine Sullivan, Marsha Ambrosius, Floetry, Bebe Rexha and more. Preparing for his album entitled “Thompson Street”, during the pandemic he released two singles with his band TreWay and The Now Generation, “Home” and “Roll Play” (available on all streaming platforms). The Now Generation consists of TreWay’s close group of friends in which he is the lead vocalist and drummer, performing what they call FEEL GOOD MUSIC.

Relaunched his brand OnDa1 which promotes accomplishing your goals/dreams and building community from music. Thats #onda1
What does success mean to you?
I define success when you tap into your purpose, it wasn’t until I found mine which was years after into my career that I felt successful. Even tho I accomplished a lot in that time, it didn’t mean as much as it does now until I knew WHY I was doing what I was doing, accomplishing my goals and making my dreams my reality. It takes a lot of discipline but MOST of all faith in God and I can humbly attest that since then, I have been attacking and completing EVERYTHING I’ve put my mind to! and that’s success. The good, bad, hard, and easy! With GOD all things are possible!
