Today we’d like to introduce you to Farrah Marisa.
Farrah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was in Corporate sales for over 13 years and was the #1 sales representative year after year. I always knew there was something more purposeful for me, but I didn’t know what it was. I’ve always valued personal growth, so I decided to go back to school and get a Master’s (M.A.) in Spiritual Psychology. The program asks three important questions, 1. Who am I? 2. What is my unique purpose? 3. How can I make a more meaningful contribution and live a more fulfilling life? Not only did I explore this in a powerful way, but it also gave me the tools to heal old limiting beliefs that kept me playing small and gave me the tools to get out of my own way and live with greater joy, clarity and purpose. Once I graduated, I decided to be of service and lead workshops inside a prison.
Almost immediately upon entering, I had a lightbulb moment and I knew that I was the best version of myself. My Coach at the time helped me identify the significance of my experience. I was attracted to the depth, insight, healing and wisdom that surrounded me inside the prison. I love leading, speaking and facilitating while supporting people heal, grow and live as the best version of themselves. The consciousness and wisdom inside prisons is profound, like nothing I’ve ever experienced. It was my prison experience that inspired me to do more purposeful work in the work and empowers others to know who they are, live from this place and give them the tools they need in order to thrive and get out of their own way.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Anything worth doing takes a tremendous amount of courage. As we take steps forward towards our goals and bigger vision, it’s inevitable that our fears and limiting beliefs will come up. Fears like, what if I fail, what if I’m not good enough, I’m not smart enough, who do I think I am to do x,y,z, I don’t have what it takes; the right degree, etc. Just like my clients, I’m human too and all of us have our own inner critic and fears that keep us playing small and hijacking our bigger vision. I experienced this for sure! This is why a lot of people never start something, or they start and stop. Other people take 1 step in 10 directions and ultimately never get anywhere. The learning curve is a lot for entrepreneurs and people just starting out. Often times it was the inspiration, the purpose driven project and the outlet to be creative that inspired us to start… but at some point, you have to start wearing a bunch of other hats and that requires a learning curve that can feel overwhelming and can suck the excitement out of a project and leads to burnout. I experienced ALL of this. What saved me is that I had a Coach and was in a mastermind group to support me on the business front and also on the emotional/mental side as well.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
1. I would have started sooner instead of playing it safe. After I graduated from college, I wanted the “safest” job where I would get a consistent paycheck, a company car…. all the fringe benefits. Why, because I paid my own way through college, no loans, no parental financial support… and it was tough. So I wanted a “safe” career where I would be taken care of. It had no heart, no purpose for me, but it did pave the way to where I am now. Getting a big paycheck – doesn’t always feel like success.
2. I would have asked for support sooner and sought out a coach or mentor for overall guidance, feedback and best practices. I held a pattern that I needed to act like I had it all together… in order to be successful and accepted by others. That is other people knew that I wasn’t “perfect” that they may not accept me. Knowing what I know now, I would have asked for support sooner, then my path would have been more aligned, fulfilling and purposeful and not taken as long to get where I am now.
3. The most important thing I would have done sooner is do some deep inner work around my limiting beliefs and fears… What if I fail, I’m not good enough, not smart enough, don’t have enough resources to succeed, etc. – which paralyzed me with fear and allowed me to play it safe and not live up to my fullest potential.
