Today we’d like to introduce you to Jener DaSilva.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was raised in South Florida (Pompano Beach) and moved with my family to Seattle, Washington. I started acting from a very young age doing professional theater and improv throughout Florida and then later in Seattle. I moved to LA to pursue my dream to act, write, and produce feature films. I began acting in LA and recently appeared in the Blumhouse Film, “The Gallows Act II”. As well as currently have a horror feature slated with Tremendum Pictures. So that’s still very much the dream but I recently stumbled into social media.
I recently discovered that social media is a great way to get your ideas out there! It’s like a micro movie and an excellent opportunity to act, write, and produce all on your own! It’s great because you don’t have to wait on anyone else to give you the green light, you can grab your camera or phone and go and within minutes be able to share your ideas with the world. I think that’s so powerful and such a great opportunity that’s available for creatives. Anyone can create their own dream with just a little ingenuity and I think that’s such a cool world. I believe the future of entertainment will certainly be intertwined with social media/streaming platforms. I personally have had some awesome opportunities and early successes and can’t wait to keep growing and learning more! A large help as been being close friends with Kurt Tocci, who has been kind enough to show me the ropes. He has such a great eye for producing online content, and it’s been so exciting to take a creative idea I have and work with him on the best way to produce and release it out into the world! We have already had some viral videos and most recently had one of our videos for a concept I had (Halloween 2020) featured on CBS and Buzzfeed! And that was an incredible experience and so encouraging! I can’t wait to continue to develop more content, always with the mission to brighten people’s day.
We live in such chaotic times, hard times for a lot of people, that if I can make someone laugh or smile, or see a brighter future, even if just for a few seconds, that makes all the difference. I really hope to continue generating the type of content that people can relate to and get a kick out of. That’s the ultimate goal, to make the world just a tiny bit better and to encourage people to think positively! I think when we are thinking positively, we open our hearts a bit more, and when we open our hearts more, we realize that we are not in this thing alone. I think that’s key towards positive actions is first positive messaging! I’m a big proponent of positive thinking and strongly feel it’s something we will always need. I’d really love to be able to bring that type of thinking to as many people as possible. And if that’s through creating fun, silly videos with my friends than all the better. 🙂 That’s kind of #goals.
When I’m not writing or creating videos you can usually find me longboarding /wakeboarding/ or hitting the beach. 🙂 Also an experienced snow and wakeboarder as well as an accomplished dancer.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s hard to say. I’m really just starting out so definitely don’t take any hiccups personally. I’m still learning and trying to grow.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I have always felt super unique. I think one great aspect of social media is that it’s easy to find people who are as unique as you. There is something wonderful in the realization that at the end of the day, we aren’t alone. We are a whole lot more similar than we think.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I think being happy is key. Whatever that means for you. No matter what I do, I try to always seek to be happy. If you’re happy you’re fulfilled and I think that’s really what we’re after when we chase ‘Success’.
