Meet Jasper Wong of POW! WOW! in Long Beach and Lancaster

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasper Wong.

POW! WOW! Was founded by artist Jasper Wong in 2010 in Hong Kong. In 2011, the first edition of POW! WOW! as a week-long festival was organized in his native state Hawaii. The POW! WOW! mural festival has since grown into a global leader of the street art movement.

Thousands of internationally renowned contemporary, street, and graffiti artists have contributed, creating large scale works of public art in 17 cities around the world.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely wasn’t smooth in any way. It’s been a tough road with many learning curves, especially in regards to fundraising for the festivals and securing walls for murals. There has been a lot of pushback in some cases, so it required us to educate people about the positive impact and power of public art.

We specialize in public art and educational initiatives. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) with a mission to beautify communities.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Following our passion for art and supporting communities. It’s something we believe in wholeheartedly. When your passions are your job then it doesn’t feel like work. We love supporting artists and beautifying neighborhoods around the globe with art.
