Meet Trent Monroe of Moonstar Entertainment in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trent Monroe.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Trent. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It all started in upstate New York, after breaking my hand in a golden gloves boxing match. I decided to give up the family sport of boxing and pursue another passion of mine witch was music. I started out in 9th grade with an R&B group named signature that quickly gained local fame in our hometown of Rochester, NY. From shows to dance competitions to opening up for major artists, we made best of our boy band experience. The experience was short-lived. Not too long after graduating high school and the disbanding of the group instead of going to college, I picked up a trade-in barbering while casually pursuing music on the side still. I built a strong clientele and made a really good name for myself as a hometown hairstylist. Working for about six years cutting, I began to question if my music career should be given a real opportunity in place where I could aptly make something of it. Not too long after in 2016, I packed my car left my family, friends, and everything I knew and drove across the USA and stared my life completely over in the city of dreams Los Angeles California. The decision to leave was the hardest one I’ve ever had to make.

In my first week, I landed a job in a barbershop in Beverly hills- culture shock !! All while sleeping on the homies floors until I saved up and got on my feet, faking the funk never felt so fake. Thank god for good friends. I stuck in the fight thou and treated LA like boxing match, worked hard, sacrificed fun, made calculated moves and got punished when mistakes were made just like a real boxing match. I played the long game, made wonderful relationships, threw cutting hair that took me places and put me in rooms I only thought music could. Eventually working my up the latter cutting influential people in film, entrainment, real estate, business, etc. All while learning the ropes from the inside on how the game is played. Fast forward to almost five years later to now finishing my first EP to touring and with Master P one of the pioneers of independent artists to working on high profile projects as a writer, it’s only a matter of time before the world knows my name.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Its been a smooth ride with tons of learning curves for the most part. I’m a true believer that you learn just as much from your low points and struggles as you do when everything is going well. I feel the most challenging part for me was learning patience while racing against time.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m a singer-songwriter specializing in making music that moves the soul. I’m truly most proud of my ambition and never losing sight in giving my music the quality necessary to one day transcend it beyond the stars. My mindset, character, and vocal tone sets me apart from everyone else.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck is simply being prepared when the opportunity presents its self. Several times I’ve missed out on opportunities that may have elevated me sooner in my career by not being prepared in the moment. So now, I focus on making sure I’m ready at all times.
