Meet Ernest Cho of OC K Pop Academy in Orange County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ernest Cho.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ernest. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started this business as Korean Dancing Aerobics for specially Korean American first generation women in 1999. Now in 2017, this studio is expanded to teach all Americans K Pop Dance which is popular worldwide. In the near future, I am planning to teach and introduce Korean language, history, culture and how to do business with Korean people.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it has not been. Biggest one is leasing expense and instructors’ betrayal.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the OC K Pop Academy story. Tell us more about the business.
I have not stayed as it is. I am trying to differentiate my studio from the other studio. This was first Korean Dancing Aerobics studio in America and we are expanding to satisfy all American people beyond just teaching dance and just Korean American people.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am one of first generation immigrant, such as limited English, several background, etc. I got some experience lived in western country and learned western culture before I came to America. Much experience in marketing area in Korea helped me to do business like customer focused one. These kinds of experience and challenging life might have helped me to do business and make new lives.
