Today we’d like to introduce you to Octavio Sanchez.
Octavio, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am the youngest of 7 siblings. One of my eldest siblings names Salvador Salcedo owner a pizza franchise named 2 for 1 Pizza so I was influenced a lot by him. I was raised in South Central Los Angeles up to the age of 17. Then I moved to Southgate, ca. As a kid I always worked on cars I purchased my first car at age 13 it was a Buick Regal 1979. I remember paying $800 dollars for it and reselling it for $1.300 the guy I sold it to still owe me $150 to this day. I ended getting a passion for cars and flipping them. I took that regal and by the age of sixteen I owned a 1998 Chevy Silverado pickup truck that I customized and sold for a good profit. By the age of 18 I purchased I opened a car wash in south central Los Angles and Hoover and Florence. I named it The Spot Car Wash. To this date it is still called the spot car wash. I then sold the car wash to my brother Raymond and moved on to opening a trucking business. I started by purchasing one truck and subleasing it to a company named Cargo Solutions. I also opened a mobile detailing service named O’zone clean but that wasn’t very successful and I sold it for a small lost. As time passed and technology industry started booming I learned to design websites. I learned SEO to have them rank higher on search engines and then I designed a website for the airport shuttle industry named Fame Transportion. I targeted people that wanted to ride in luxury but didn’t want to pay the high price. My slogan was “Luxury transportation below taxi prices”. When Uber started taking over the transportation industry approximately 2014 I sold Fame Transportation and started a business named Music City. With this company I designed a website that allows independent artists to market and brand themselves and make a larger percentage than with other music distribution companies. While this company is still on testing bases and we are currently developing an app that will allow artist to instantly share their music via Bluetooth vs handing out CDs for promotion. With all the buzz about cannabis legalization all over the United States and all over the world for that matter I ventured out and created an app called Weedmenu. Weedmenu is an app that will target your emotions and feelings and create a profile that will tell you what cannabis products makes the consumer feel better physically and emotionally. Our app will help consumers find the best product to fulfill his or her needs. It is the First Complete cannabis directory of its kind. Our app also has a seed to sale tracking system that helps business stay within regulations and easier for to keep record for tax reasons. We have a couple of celebrity investors that I am not at liberty to reveal but one which is a musician out of Compton California named Hi-C.
Has it been a smooth road?
When I was younger it seemed the economy was better so I can say it was a smooth road when I was younger. After the real-estate crash in 2007-8 everything was much slower and not much return on investment. With the green rush it has been very good as investors are lining up at an opportunity to invest in Weedmenu.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Weedmenu – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My company Weedmenu is basically a software application (app). We use call centers and street marketing teams as well as email marketing to target cannabis businesses so that their business listing can be placed in our app. I specialize in creating businesses and making them profitable instantly. Most companies lose money the first two years but I can proudly say that all my business but one have been a success. I have to say what I am most proud of is that I have my child hood friends on board and all own shares of company which makes us all work together effortlessly.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love best about our city is the people, they are trend setters everyone across the world wants to come to LA they want to dress like we do in LA. Our food our mixed cultures. What I like least is the traffic. The average drive anywhere usually is about 45.
