Today we’d like to introduce you to Mitra Silva.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Mitra. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was raised in Iran with a love for the medical field as well as having a creative passion. After three years, I finally got my break — work with a prominent interior design firm. I had the chance to work at Disney Studios, Redbull, and HBO headquarters projects which were amazing but… There was still that longing and yearning to ignite my passion on a deeper level. I remember that day. I was in a daze, sitting on my bed and pondering about my life’s journey and purpose. I wanted to help heal the world in a way a doctor’s touch would, yet I knew my talents lie in design. Then it hit me: Oh! Why don’t I combine the two passions of mine? Hence, my vision is to design healing spaces around the world. To make this happen, I started my own company. I wanted to empower women from all around the world, so I hired a majority of women architects and designers. Now we design all over the United States, and are looking forward to international projects! My vision is to create innovative interiors and expertly planned medical spaces, to ultimately inspire positive transformation for all.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My journey consists of daily stretching and strengthening. Entrepreneurship is a delusion of a straight and smooth road to the top. However, the reality is that there are many hills, mountains, and valleys on the way to the top. The challenge is to enjoy the journey, develop the capability to zoom-in to the everyday gifts, and zoom-out to stay connected to the vision, regardless of how tough it gets. Mindset is the golden key to success.

I founded Simour Design, a medical interior design firm, to transform medical spaces through interior design by providing an elevated experience. Whether patient, staff, or physician, everyone has an important part. Our designs serve as a tangible reminder of the noble purpose of healing and wellness.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Let’s define luck: I think in our world, we wait for something to happen to us (whether good or bad). In life, we can create and carve our own path. I am a big believer in opportunity. In my life, I always had to face, create and turn every opportunity to what I deeply desire. Only after could I dance with what life had to offer. It’s empowering when we take charge of what we are in charge of, and let go of what we are not.
