Meet Mike River

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike River.

Mike, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I got my start in the music industry at an early age. I started in a group called “Remix”, and then joined a boyband “Mindless Behavior”, which then led to me pursuing a solo career. I was born in Mississippi and moved to Los Angeles when I was 12 years old. I was always into entertainment, but I wasn’t doing it professionally until I was about eight years old.

Moving to LA was the true start of my career in music and joining “Mindless” was the first time I felt people started to really acknowledge me as an artist. Today my journey continues as I prepare to release my debut solo project, “Black Sheep”. I have released three singles so far that are leading into my project and the response has been great to say the least. I am thankful for every moment so far and am glad to have you as a part of this journey with me. It’s just the beginning.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To say that this process has been completely smooth sailing would be untrue. Would I change anything about the way my career has panned out? Of course not. I have worked really hard to get to where I am and with that come challenges. Doubting yourself, getting anxious, tired, frustrated, etc. is all just a part of moving forward. Nothing worth having comes easy.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I like to focus on being an entertainer. The main component for me pertaining to that is music. Music is the center of my brand. Now, acting, dancing, writing, and being a musician all play a part in the well-oiled machine we continue to grow as a team. Being able to express myself creatively is very important, and all of the things I listed above are outlets I use to do so. I would say I am most known for my music. As for what sets me apart from others? That is very simple. Simply being me is what does that. Same as how you being you has that same effect. Being yourself will always make you different and set you apart from others. You actually have to try harder to be the same as someone else.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Persistence, Gratitude, and Faith. Those three things play a huge part in maintaining a certain level of success.
